• Officially launched on Tuesday, October 13, with the endorsement of the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion, the alliance aims to strengthen child protection and coordinate efforts to end violence against children.
• The partnership will focus on joint advocacy, public awareness, support for government initiatives and ensuring children and young people have a stronger voice in decisions affecting their lives.
• Rwanda’s 2015–2016 Violence Against Children and Youth Survey found that five in 10 girls and six in 10 boys had experienced at least one form of physical, sexual or emotional violence before turning 18.
• Gender Minister Consolée Uwimana urged the organisations to turn commitments into action through stronger prevention, better reporting of abuse and timely support for affected children.
