Bobby Ewing’s infamous return to Dallas, 40 years ago today, is a masterclass in TV secrecy. They shot it without telling CBS execs, fed the press fake storylines, smuggled Patrick Duffy onto set under a blanket, then added the scene less than an hour before the show aired

That’s America.

James’ six kids are now without their father.
In the last two years, he had to sell his Dawson’s Creek memorabilia to help pay for his cancer treatment.
His castmates had to put on a show to help cover his medical expenses.
There was absolutely no reason Sony Pictures (which owns Dawson’s Creek) couldn’t have quietly paid for his treatment, considering how much the show has made for them over the years, long after it ended.
Now his wife, Kimberly, is a widow with six children.
I realize she may be better off than some, but it’s still a pretty awful situation given how much money the show generated.

QUESTION: If we live in the most medically-advanced, insurance-saturated era in human history...
...why did actor James Van Der Beek just die of colorectal cancer, bankrupted by the HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, at 48?!
He did everything “right”: paid premiums for decades,
followed screenings, fought back with every treatment money could buy.
But when the bills outran the coverage, he STILL ended up having to beg strangers online for help.
RESULT: A life cut HORRENDOUSLY SHORT despite paying into the “system” his whole adult life.
So why exactly am I supposed to fork over $200+ a month for Medicare Part B the second I turn 65?
In case I get sick with the flu?
In case I get something WORSE?
To delay the inevitable a little longer?
To me, James Van Der Beek is a cautionary tale.
You pay in forever, the doctors CONSPICUOUSLY never cure anything, the machine manages your decline, and when it finally says “no more,” you’re on your own anyway.
Yes, coverage can extend life and reduce suffering for thousands every day, but it's not a GUARANTEE.
It's a GAMBLE.
And sometimes you lose.
RIP Dawson.
Sorry the system failed you.

How fucked are we as a country that an incredibly successful actor who worked into the last year of his life was left penniless by a two-year Cancer battle?
#JamesVanDerBeek's friends have launched a GoFundMe campaign after his death to support his wife and six children, who are "out of funds" following the actor's cancer battle.
"In the wake of this loss, Kimberly and the children are facing an uncertain future," reads the campaign's statement. "The costs of James’s medical care and the extended fight against cancer have left the family out of funds. They are working hard to stay in their home and to ensure the children can continue their education and maintain some stability during this incredibly difficult time. The support of friends, family, and the wider community will make a world of difference as they navigate the road ahead."
"Your generosity will help cover essential living expenses, pay bills, and support the children’s education. Every donation, no matter the size, will help Kimberly and her family find hope and security as they rebuild their lives. Thank you for considering a gift to support them," the statement concludes.

A challenge to the #GH writers (once they clean up this ridiculous Ronnie stuff) … write a grand love story for Tracy. Her new beau should not be a gangster, a serial killer, a mob kingpin or a villain of any kind. Just an upstanding gentleman who loves her. Can you do it?

Some people might enjoy it, but I personally do not enjoy watching this show continue to spit all over the relationship Monica and Billy Miller’s Drew had together because they were a real mother and son and he would have grieved her death and not give a fuck about her will #GH

A record number of car crashes on our nation’s roadways. (Way too many here in CT.) Don’t blame the drivers; the blame should rest squarely on the shoulders of auto manufacturers. Small windows, small mirrors, busy screens, endless distractions on the dashboards. Insanity.

Jagger was a federal agent gunned down at the estate of the wealthiest family in Port Charles. Why no investigation? Where is the media? (Aurora? Ha!) Does Laura the Mayor realize her brother (Cyrus) is “missing.” Why bring the JL Holt history back and then kill Austin? 🤦🏼♂️ #GH
