It’s our 65th birthday! 🎉
On May 1, 1959, Goddard was established as NASA’s first spaceflight center. Today, we celebrate Goddard’s history of science and technological innovation!
ALT Black and white photo of people building a NASA Goddard gate sign. A truck with a logo that reads “Patrick Signs” has a crane and is backed up to the sign. Three people stand behind the truck and one off to the side. The trees do not have leaves and the people have coats on.
Mass Spectrometer-themed sniffing activity in our group for #BringYourChildToWorkDay !! Some future scientists in here - take note 😉
Same issue for Mars - lunar exploration is opportunity to put this in place for future ventures
Kathleen Mandt (@mommascientist) discusses how commercial exploitation of the #Moon could contaminate scientific information about volatiles, including water. Mandt calls for a science-industry collaboration to collect and share data between missions.

🚀PACE is managed by @NASAGoddard!
Based in Maryland, Goddard is home to the nation’s largest organization of scientists, engineers, and technologists who build spacecraft, instruments, and new technology to study Earth, the Sun, our solar system, and the universe.
ALT The triangular shaped PACE mission patch which reads "Advanced Measurements of Sea and Sky - Plankton, Aerosol, Cloud, ocean Ecosystem - NASA/GSFC - UMBC - SRON/Airbus NL" lays on top of a background image of a satellite view of blue and green swirling phytoplankton in the ocean.

POV: landing on a moon of Saturn
On 25 December 2004, our Huygens probe was released from the Cassini spacecraft. Huygens continued on to Titan, Saturn's largest and most interesting moon, descending via parachute and touching-down on 14 January 2005.
