I played the Nekome: Nazi Hunter demo, and honestly, I came away pretty impressed with its combat. The demo offers a challenge-based mode where you progress through stages, facing waves of enemies while getting a feel for the combat and stealth mechanics. But for me, the main attraction is how the gameplay feels. The combat reminds me a lot of the Batman: Arkham games, with quick attacks, timed counters, dodging, and finishers. For an indie game, the combat has a surprising amount of weight to it. The protagonist’s movements and the impact of each hit make the fights feel brutal rather than floaty. I also enjoyed the stealth sections, which give you another way to approach encounters instead of simply fighting everyone head-on. As you progress, you can unlock additional abilities and finishers, and chain attacks together to make combat more satisfying. I can’t say much about the story yet, since I’ve only played the demo, but the combat has already hooked me. If the full game can build on what’s here, I think it has the potential to be a really solid action game. Overall, I highly recommend giving the demo a try.
