"The hope continues, which is that public health could aspire to be honest, to use its powers proportionately and judiciously, to exercise humility. Public health is far from these things. Public health could actually aspire to be bipartisan. Public health is not. It's becoming an increasingly entrenched left-wing discipline run by left-wing ideologues, reaching even more and more absurd conclusions. What public health can be and what it is are still light-years apart." - Vinay Prasad on Anthony Fauci, COVID-19 restrictions, and RFK jr. reason.com/2026/10/25/public…

Moderna's new mRNA flu shot is approved for adults 50 and up. Here's what most people won't be told at the pharmacy: For those 65 and older, FDA granted accelerated approval based on antibody levels, not proof of fewer flu cases. The study to confirm real benefit in that age group has a final report due in 2030. And what about the adverse events?!

“Prespecified descriptive OS analysis.” Those words should give us pause. Calling this a “positive OS result” in a phase 3 trial manuscript is misleading when OS was outside the formal testing strategy. The results are encouraging, but an OS benefit has not been formally demonstrated in this analysis. I’m surprised this framing passed journal review. Oncologists and patients shouldn’t need to close-read a manuscript like English professors to understand whether a trial formally demonstrated an OS benefit. Put the bottom line up front. @Timothee_MD @oncology_bg @SusanGKomen @BCRFcure @OncoAlert @Annals_Oncology @myESMO @ASCO @AACR @SABCSSanAntonio

Apparently, following the money becomes less appealing when the trail leads home. This guy’s own family made millions inside the academic biomedical system whose funding arrangements he defends. His mother was a medical school dean at Cornell with a salary near or above seven figures and a lavishly compensated bureaucrat at a Harvard hospital. His father made millions working inside NIH. They were powerful, rich insiders in the establishment he now protects. Now he likely stands to inherit a family fortune. The status quo he promotes made his family rich and could ultimately make him even richer. His outrage conveniently stops at his own doorstep.
He's trying to run, but Congress should not let him hide. Calley Means worked the laws from the inside to benefit his own company, making millions of dollars.

NEW: A few years ago, Scott Gottlieb was helping the Biden administration censor conservatives on Twitter for Pfizer. Last year, he was saying that Robert F. Kennedy was unqualified and lambasted plans for higher vaccine standards. This year, he's back in the inner circle at FDA. Gottlieb endorsed Overton and his two top aides at FDA spoke with Overton before her confirmation hearing. Kennedy's leadership was once seen as a direct rebuke of the censorship and Big Pharma capture that defined the COVID era. A lot has changed.

Trust and Science The scientific method is the best tool we have for arriving at truth. It is not much good for building trust — just look at the news. Is there a way to “science” our way to closing the trust gap? #STATSummit

STAT has turned defending the biomedical status quo into a business model. It convenes conferences to trot out the same failed establishment figures, packages their talking points as news, and publishes hit pieces against people trying to change the system. Now it brings back Califf to disparage DOGE. Apparently talking straight means giving establishment hacks another microphone to explain why disturbing their preferred arrangements is a national catastrophe. I’d be more interested in hearing these people account for their own failed leadership.
The fmr FDA commissioners are ready to, as I like to say, sit crooked and talk straight. Right away, Rob Califf says that he thinks DOGE will go down as “one of the biggest disasters in American history.” #STATSummit

How did Fauci become the best paid bureaucrat in history? His diary shows he was an expert swamp creature. When he was fighting with CDC Director Rochelle Walensky: - He fed a hit piece about her to the New York Times, then consoled her about that very same New York Times hit piece! - He recommended a top to bottom review of CDC - He went over her head at HHS (Sean Mccluskie) and the White House (Courtney Rowe) for greater control
In his diary, Anthony Fauci called the CDC “truly a dysfunctional organization.” He kept that criticism out of his book, even though he had recommended Rochelle Walensky as CDC director. But he made sure to note it in his diary.
