18) “The Woman who would be King: Hatshepsut’s Rise to Power in Ancient Egypt” I adored this book. Anyone interested in Hatshepsut should pick it up. Cooney fleshes out her life and gives more context as to how and why she came to the throne. It’s tremendous.

19) “Tombs (Story Collection)” by Junji Ito. Ito is one of my favorite horror writers/creators. The art is gorgeous and the stories are so varied. Some make you think. Some make you sad. Some are actually funny. But all have that thread of horror that connect them.

I loved this book. Hatshepsut’s rep has been of a greedy woman who stole the throne from her nephew but that wasn’t the case. This gives context behind her actions as well as why her nephew erased a lot (but not all) of her depictions as king. The last 2 paragraphs hit hard still
