HALLOWEEN SALE ANNOUNCEMENT#1!

*PLEASE NOTE - the reverse cover image and the Blu cover are still in the design stage but will be revealed soon*
BLACK MAGIC WITH BUDDHA (Hong Kong, 1983)
Looking for a way to get rich quick, neâer-do-well Ben Chin (played by Shaw Bros regular Chen Kuan-tai) travels to West Papua in order to steal the brain of a mummy and make it do his magic bidding, as one does. Though warned by a holy man to destroy the brain after using it only once, Ben cannot help himself and continues to use the malefic cerebellum to bump off his enemies and rise the corporate ladder. But the situation moves quickly out of his control, leading to a hallucinatory final confrontation between the grisly Brain Demon and a powerful deity known as the Four-Faced Buddha.
BLACK MAGIC WITH BUDDHA is a particularly wild example of the ultra-gory âblack magicâ themed horror films that were made in Hong Kong in the early 1980s, full of insane plotting, goopy, gross-out effects and deranged psychedelic imagery. Directed by another Shaw Bros veteran, Lo Lieh, for his own independent production company, BLACK MAGIC WITH BUDDHA has remained underseen for decades though it has become legendary among devotees of offbeat Asian horror.
Mondo Macabro is very excited to present this amazing relic of Hong Kong trash-horror in a brand new 4K restoration, which was overseen by producer and Asian film expert FrĂŠdĂŠric Ambroisine. This disc marks the first ever US release of the film in any format.

From Italy to Hong Kong, Richard Harrison left behind both an impressive legacy and an unwilling one as part of IFDâs wild run of ninja movies. RIP.

With Heroes Two (1974), it seems the fun was officially over for some of Chang Chehâs bloodletting. Violent footage disappears from the climax, replaced entirely by red screens. One of the stranger ways his trademark gore was dealt with.
These triple-bill episodes still pack in the background, but the quick reviews keep us moving through key filmographies towards the bigger single-film deep dives. For John Woo, weâre working our way towards Heroes Shed No Tears. Join us on the journey.

Godfrey Hoâs cut-and-paste ninja classic Diamond Ninja Force is coming to Blu-ray from Neon Eagle Video. @EasternFilmFans and I are on the disc to talk about Demonâs Apartment, the original Taiwanese ghost film that was later merged into it.
***New Announcement#3!***
Up for pre-order now at Cauldron-Films.com (and up later at DiabolikDVD.com when the site is fully operational again)!
DIAMOND NINJA FORCE (Hong Kong, 1985)
DEMON'S APARTMENT (Taiwan, 1985)
DIAMOND NINJA FORCE is maybe the wildest of all the films directed by Godfrey Ho for IFD. Taking footage from three different shoots with Richard Harrison and combining it with a sleazy Taiwanese horror film called DEMONâS APARTMENT (also included in this release), Ho and company have created one of the strangest ninja films ever made.
Neon Eagle Video has restored both films from their original negatives / best available film elements straight from the IFD vaults, and they are presented here in HD for the first time ever, along with a host of exclusive extras.
DIAMOND NINJA FORCE
In more or less a direct sequel to NINJA TERMINATOR, DIAMOND NINJA FORCE finds Richard Harrison battling more bad guys with swords, magic, explosions, and mustaches. His foes, the Black Ninja Clan, are trying to force a real estate heiress to sell her land so they can reclaim the bodies of their ancestors. To help persuade her, they send in the Ghost Ninja, a horny specter who never does anything remotely ninja-like but does get involved in the heiressâ sex life with her husband. Meanwhile, the Black Ninja Clan murders Richard Harrisonâs wife for no reason. And you know what that means â REVENGE!
Neon Eagle Video has spared no expense in order to restore this brain-damaging classic of âcut and pasteâ action cinema from its original negative and presents it proudly in this deluxe package.
DEMONâS APARTMENT
A corrupt real estate baron covers up (literally) the fact that his latest housing project is built over a mass unmarked grave, which comes back to haunt (also literally) the family that moves into one of the bungalows. Mom starts seeing ghosts and freaking out almost immediately upon arriving, while Dad is convinced sheâs âjust seeing thingsâ and tries to calm her down by having sex with her (which actually seems to work). Meanwhile their empty-headed son is caught between a kindly Granny ghost and a skeevy specter that is anxious to drink his blood, unaware that the kid has hepatitis (?!?).
But the real trouble starts when the troubled spirit of a young lady gets all worked up by the sexy-times between perpetually nervous Mom and perpetually horny Dad, and decides to get in on the action, initiating a nasty possession that doesnât end well for anyone.
DEMONâS APARTMENT (a.k.a. GHOST RAPIST, a title weâre not using for obvious reasons) is a sleazed-up POLTERGEIST riff from mid-80s Taiwan that was used as the âsource filmâ for the IFD produced Godfrey Ho joint DIAMOND NINJA FORCE, also featured in this set. The film hits you with an almost constant barrage of insanity, with severed heads in laundry baskets, puking ghosts, gambling addict ghosts, erotic home abortions, cowardly exorcists, and much more.
Neon Eagle Video is totally psyched to present this Asian horror oddity on US home video for the first time ever, from an exclusive new 4K restoration.
