Sean Connery’s introduction in DR. NO (1962) became one of cinema’s most iconic moments. Director tweaked the timing of Connery’s lighter flick, letting the smoke clear before the line landed. A small adjustment that helped create movie history.

The blatant judicial intervention on Lula’s behalf has irreparably tainted this election. Annulment followed by another vote is the only way for Brazil’s next president to have legitimacy. The United States should not recognize this election as valid.
Zanin, Lula’s personal lawyer that he put on the Supreme Court, clarifies his order on voting hours extension — it will ONLY apply to voting locations that were still open. i.e. ones that the communists had kept open in anticipation of his order. The rest of the voting locations are to remain closed and to go ahead with finalizing their vote counts.
"it's just an entitlement-flavored word salad spewed forth as some talismanic claim to deference and respect"
i am coming to the conclusion that the reason that so many of these college students so rabidly hated charlie is not because of what he said when he was holding the mic but rather what he asked them to say when he handed the mic to them.
there's a stunning incoherence to their views. so angry, so confident, so entitled, and so completely, utterly unable to explain why or what they even believe.
never have so many known so little and yet felt so certain about so much.
there is no capacity for critical thinking or discourse, not even a basic semantic grasp of the concepts.
it's just an entitlement-flavored word salad spewed forth as some talismanic claim to deference and respect.
the greatest vulnerability of the marxist midwiped is being asked to explain what they are talking about.
ask what their magic words mean, why they use them, what they signify, how the problems and processes they posit work.
ask how they would do things.
ask what they are asking for.
the results are amazing.
This is why the left wants to control, throttle, or outright destroy it
If you put all the pieces together, the rise of AI suggests that the welfare state will collapse
- distribution of national income and corresponding tax base shifts from 70/30 labor/capital (current ratio) to something more in favor of capital. Doesn’t have to be 0/100. Maybe just 60/40.
- taxing capital is much harder because it is mobile - as recent examples have demonstrated
- AI exacerbates this by reducing headcount and making corporates even more mobile
- if the welfare states also do not control control production inputs (AI DC, GPUs), they have little capital assets to tax. They will respond by banning AI / requiring a human in the loop to rubber stamp / taxing foreign AI corporates via “fines”
- generally speaking countries with high welfare states also are not prime nexuses of capital formation (for obvious reasons), so this will be a perfect storm. Have to sustain huge expenditures and no domestic capital base to harvest
- response: welfare states won’t do nothing. Yes- they will ban AI, especially hard to tax foreign AI firms, and promote domestic champions + protect human white collar guilds. These are all uncompetitive measures and will further retard growth. This will put additional pressure on ability to finance welfare state.

I'm not from Buenos Aires but I say kill them all
Tens of thousands of rioters are approaching the Louvre. They have vowed to burn it down along with EVERYTHING in it. You are an advisor to the French govt. Security informs you that the ONLY way to stop the rioters is to gun them all down. There would be a minimum of 1000 deaths. Do you advise security to shoot?

The arc of history is long but it points towards the entire contents of the British Museum, the Vatican Library and the Louvre being stored inside a top secret air field hangar near Tokyo.
The future of space travel is private. NASA can continue to do some things for a while as a treat
Replying to @brianchau57
During this time, NASA has fallen behind China and even India in government-led space exploration, instead relying on SpaceX for space travel.
