I promise I'm not on a commission from @DMLiveWiki but LOOK AT THIS. Taken from a Whistle Test segment in 86, this is Fly On The Windscreen from the Black Celebration tour and it's just GREAT, both performance and quality. Full video here 👇

[old fart rant]
Why does absolutely everything on the internet slowly get worse? Depeche Mode YouTube is a nightmare now, just endless shorts of stuff you've seen, reaction videos from idiots and awful 'fan' remixes with 11 views. And this place? Argh.

What's the best Depeche Mode album for singing along to? So not necessarily the *best album* but the one you like to really belt out. In my mind there is a clearcut winner (and yes it is one of the options) but you may beg to differ...

Time is fleeting.
Everything Counts at Crystal Palace. I sometimes get annoyed with old shaky camera footage but not here because it absolutely reflects what was happening. Complete bedlam.

What would Lie To Me have sounded like on the Devotional Tour? Vlad Konovalov has an idea...

We all know Depeche Mode sampled John Bonham’s huge drum sounds from When The Levee Breaks for NLMDA. But go and put Houses Of The Holy on and tell me if it reminds you of anything. (No, I’m not suggesting they sampled it…)
I bought 101 on VHS the day it came out in 1989. To have my OWN VIDEO of Depeche Mode just being themselves, as well as *that* concert, was mind blowing. But what really detonated my tiny 14-year-old brain was this scene of Martin playing the guitar. Like, WHAT? WHAT IS THIS?
Re my earlier World Violation tweet: needless to say if you are dying for the best there is in terms of full bootleg recordings from this tour, @DMLiveWiki has got you covered:

I'll tell you what we haven't done for a while: had a bloody good moan about the fact that Depeche Mode have never released anything official from the World Violation tour. No please, after you.
1653 votes later, what did we learn? I'm going to err towards the positive, which is that over two thirds of you think that there will be another tour!
I reckon we'll see them sooner than you might think. And I've never been wrong about anything, ever. You can ask anyone.
Can't say no to a poll suggestion from @PeterToo (he might break my legs). So here goes.
When do you expect to see Depeche Mode tour again?

I don't often compliment David because of course he is a complete bastard. But he has absolutely nailed this. Running a Depeche Mode blog and staying committed to it, not to mention co-writing a bloody book... this guy deserves our thanks. So, David: thank you.
About last night...
A MEMENTO: DEPECHE MODE, @LANXESSarena COLOGNE, 8 APRIL 2024
The last gig of the tour. Here's my take on that and just how much Depeche Mode mean to my, my friends and many more people. What a band

If you're feeling a bit down after the end of the tour and you've got a few million quid stuffed down the back of the sofa, Alan's gaff is still on the market.

Five little words to wrap up this Memento Mori Tour. Depeche Mode bid auf Wiedersehen in Köln.
There was just under 4 years and 8 months between the end of the Spirit tour and the start of this one. So we'll do all of this again towards the end of 2028, shall we? Splendid.

Love the fact that he has been holding audiences in the palm of his hand for over 40 years, but speaking directly to them he's completely human, appreciates everyone and his own place within the beast that is Depeche Mode. Bravo Dave. Proud to be a fan.
Some kind words by Dave tonight
