To the @US_FDA on #Aducanumab, After reviewing the evidence and the opinions of countless experts, including your own advisory panel, I no longer trust your ability to independently verify the efficacy and safety of therapies for neurodegenerative diseases. Sincerely, A patient

We have failed to care for each other.

Why when drug trials “fail” is there no uproar for approval from clinicians who saw patients benefiting, or at least a targeted phase 4 trial or expanded access program, but complete abandonment of years of work? How do so many smart people not understand expanded access? /3

Imagine how much further along science and society would be if every lab periodically wrote an open and honest review titled something like, "The case against (insert whatever it is your lab happens to be working on)". Thank you @Hlashuel, hope this is the start of a trend.

Try. Fail. Learn. Repeat. "What may ultimately be more useful for making continued go or no-go decisions is a qualitative assessment of changes to the main assumptions underlying the business case that led you to invest in the project in the first place." hbr-org.cdn.ampproject.org/c…

Is it that people stop caring or is it that we have created a system that doesn't incentivize people properly?
I’m just going to say it: Academia is full of careerists who don’t actually give a shit about science.

I fear that we're going to see more of this if we keep pushing forward compounds that weren't properly validated and don't actually test a hypothesis. We can't expect society to keep funding failed trial after failed trial forever. Time we got much smarter about how we do things.
Very sad day for neuroscience in Australia. The Australian National University has announced its intention to shut down neuroscience at the same institution where John Eccles and his many collaborators did their ground-breaking work. #saveEccles abc.net.au/news/2021-03-18/a…

In the not so distant future all data taken from any research study around the world could be put on distributed databases that nobody owns but everybody can access and benefit from. That is what blockchain technologies makes possible. I hope more people are looking into this.

Imagine a world where patients could safely and securely share information with the entire research community without actually sharing any of their private data. It's now possible, watch this brilliant talk from @verbine to find out how. youtu.be/J3jKROwTPCs

What a time to be alive. Staking with Cardano will now help fund neurodegenerative research. Congrats! @Neuronologist1 @AlbertoEspay @IOHK_Charles #Cardano
