Lord Walney, who called us weird for covering Palestine, is back. This time, he’s taken the lead in organising a letter signed by fifty British peers to ban pro-Palestine artist Macklemore from performing in the UK. Walney, also known as John Woodcock, is an ex-chair of Labour Friends of Israel who has now called on Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood to revoke Macklemore’s electronic travel authorisation on the basis that proceeds from the tour will be donated to the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM). The letter accuses the anti-genocide group of having a ‘record of glorifying terrorism and intimidating elected representatives’, which PYM denies.
