STARGATE News Update: The FIX WAS IN the moment AMAZON Hired Blair Fetter!
Here is Everything We Know...
- Blair Fetter was hired Feb. 2, 2026, and according to sources involved: "Once Fetter was hired, they never had intentions of making it work with Gero." Gero wanted to honor what came before while creating something new audiences would enjoy.
- Martin Gero is fired June 2, according to Variety. The firing was unexpected. Sources say this was all part of a plan to overhaul the franchise along the lines of what has been done with Star Wars and Star Trek. (additional separate sources have since confirmed that Amazon indeed wants a soft reboot of the franchise as opposed to starting the franchise over).
- Jac Shaeffer (Agatha All Along) is assigned the new Stargate show on Oct 9 with a 3 series deal, according to Variety.
- Schaeffer was hired by Fetter way back on Feb. 11, 2026 with a 3 series deal. There is no confirmation that Schaeffer was hired specifically to replace Gero, but the timing considering this news is suspicious.
- Amazon's hiring of Peter Friedlander and Blair Fetter who each spent more than a decade at Netflix seems to be a clear indication of the streamers intent to do business more like Netflix which currently dominates the 18-35 age streaming market.

CLAYFACE is a Villain Origin Story Done Right... But To What end? James Gunn is Running out of Time!
Here are the facts:
- Remove the DC logo and mentions of Gotham and Coast City and this could be any above average small budget wannabe horror flick.
- Tom Rhys Harries is great as Matt Hagen (Clayface) and this could be a breakout performance for the actor who despite being in the business for 15 years hasn't been "noticed." He sort of reminds me of a young Cillian Murphy, who had his own turn as a DC villain once upon a time.
- CLAYFACE is likely going to make back it's money for DC, but the real question has to be why make it? Superman 2025 was solid, Supergirl was not great, Lanterns made arguably more fans angry than happy and CLAYFACE 100% belongs in Matt Reeves The Batman universe.
- If this is a DCU movie and is supposed to exist in the wider universe, Gunn has a HUGE TONE PROBLEM. Superman (Family), Supergirl (Young Adult), Lanterns (Adult), Clayface (Super Hard Nudity R). How does this all come together in Man of Tomorrow?
- As a stand alone film, I give the 1 hour and 48 minute Clayface a solid B, but as a DC Studios entry, I give it a What The Hell are You Guys Thinking? If you have the money to see more than 10 movies in the theater this year, then I suggest you see Clayface in theaters, otherwise catch in on HBO in a couple months.

While VISIONQUEST continues to be one of the BEST Superhero TV show in years, Eps. 3 & 4 opened up a few CRACKS in the story that will need to be repaired even though Ep 4 closed out strong!
Here are the facts:
- Great 1 liners: "The power of Code compels you!" "Control Alt Delete Thee from this place" "I have strings. But now I'm free" "You can call me papa."
- Paul Bettney pulling out all the stops, his acting is on point and pulled off Ultron perfectly
- Story Crack: Jocasta introduction not seemingly tied to eps 1 &2. It feels like she was abruptly inserted into ep. 3 without being woven into the story first. She feels like a coincidence in a series where nothing should be coincidental.
- Paladin fired, but wasn't hired by Jocasta? Halfway through the show, it better end up being Ultron or Billy because the introduction of a new character with 4 episodes left will be tough.
- Why did Vision suddenly stop running from the boutique hunter and began trying to stop Jocasta? The story seemed to take a left turn a third through episode 3.
- I love the Ultron will now be tested to see if he's learned anything from the advice he's been giving Vision.
The writing team likely Sussed this all out during production and will satisfactorily be put together in the second half. But it's fair to point them out here.
Prediction: Paladin will join the Vision team soon.. it's a Todd Stashwick thing to do as he's never really a villain ;)
How do you guys feel 4 episodes in?
CORRECTION:
Okay after going back and watching the first 2 episodes again, it looks like there are a mention of the Butcherbird that I missed on the first viewing.
Episode 1: A newspaper headline mentions a murdered tech mogul with carved shrike (butcherbird) markings left at the scene.
Episode 2: Ultron watches a television news report tracking the Butcherbird serial killer.
So consider the Story Crack FILLED. The questions I have now are who hired Paladin and why did the team suddenly decide to focus on stopping Jocasta with Vision injured.

Greta Gerwig said she loved NARNIA growing up, but will that stop her from turning C.S. Lewis's THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW into a FEMINIST FANTASY?
Here are the facts...
IN THE TRAILER
- The White Witch has power on Earth, but she did not in the book
- The White Witch destroys the "Eagle and Child" replica pub that C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and The Inklings regularly met
- Polly appears to take the lead over Digory, who is the actor cast as Piggy in Lord of the Flies and looks nothing like Digory from the book
- Aslan is Sex Swapped for Meryl Streep... Male Lions have manes and C.S. Lewis himself wrote this in a 1954 letter: “I did not say to myself 'Let us represent Jesus as He really is in our world by a Lion in Narnia': I said 'Let us suppose that there were a land like Narnia and that the Son of God, as He became a Man in our world, became a Lion there, and then imagine what would happen.'”
WHY?
It's what she believes...
- She was raised by a Feminist Activist Mother
- She attended an all Girls High School and all Girl's College
- She has a Male Life Partner and doesn't believe in the traditional husband/wife relationship
Gerwig has directed 3 full length movies prior to Narnia:
LADY BIRD (2017): A loose autobiography about herself... about Woman choosing Women over men.
LITTLE WOMEN(2019): A story about female relationships and was described as a 21st Century Feminism Fantasy.
BARBIE (2023): The Patriarchy hurts everyone.
So after reading this, what do you think the chances are that THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW isn't a feminist adaptation of C.S. Lewis' work?
The math does itself...

STREETFIGHTER is the most confusing movie we've seen this year. A- Cast and performance built around a D- Storyline.
Entertaining yet disjointed and dressed up for the 90s, but in a way that feels slightly off... like looking at the 90's through the eyes of someone else who was actually there.
The movie is expected to open with $30M against an $83M budget. While the director believes a sequel is imminent, it will need to earn close to $200M to get a green light.
The only saving grace of the movie is its casting and fight scenes.
Led by Noah Centineo, who plays Ken Masters, Andrew Koji, who plays Ryu and Callina Liang, who plays Chun-li, a paper thin storyline is elevated by their over the top performances.
David Dastmalchian does an admirable job as M. Bison, although he doesn’t quite invoke the fear I’d like from that villain.
Wrestler Cody Rhodes plays an excellent Guile, both intimidating and funny while being over the top. 50 Cent plays the larger than life Mike Tyson inspired Balrog and Jason Momoa plays Blanka… sorta.
Despite a great soundtrack and compelling characters, this is not a movie you need to see in theaters. Save it for a night at your local discount theater or wait for streaming. STREET FIGHTER lands at 17 on the 2026 movie list. Overall Grade: B-

VISIONQUEST is What Happens When a GOOD Writer's Room is Pulled Together with a GOOD Showrunner and a GOOD Cast!
It's the best start to a Superhero show since LOKI and has everything it needs to be BETTER!
Instead of Deconstructing and tearing apart the character because you don't have enough writing talent to build them up (Yes I am looking at you LANTERNS), the VISIONQUEST Team does in 2 episodes what most other shows haven't done over the course of a whole season... GIVE ME HOPE.
Tired of feeling sad and depressed at the end of Superhero show episodes? Well, heroism is back on the table! Teamwork and sacrificing for the greater good is also on the Menu!
What could the next 6 episodes of VisionQuest have in store for us?
- Intelligent Dialogue
- Connecting Plot Points
- A story-line that stays on its meds
And most importantly The development of this new Vision as he discovers who he is through the relationships he builds with Ultron and Tommy. Oh yeah... all while he is being hunted.
Todd Stashwick plays the part of Bounty Hunter Paladin with his typical roguish charm, opening us up to a character that could in itself be a whole other Marvel TV show.
VISIONQUEST episodes 1 & 2 get a solid A from us and we can't wait to see where the story goes next week.

The TRUTH about why AMAZON Doesn't Care about Legacy STARGATE Fans and Chose to go with Jac Schaeffer for the new Series over Martin Gero and our OGs:
This is going to BLOW YOUR MIND!
Because, They Don't Need You. In Fact, Amazon Executives Believe YOU'VE ALREADY BEEN CAPTURED!
We keep thinking, this makes no sense. They need long time fans to bolster viewership of their new shows... Actually They Don't.
Amazon values new subscriptions over everything else. The number 1 priority for Mike Hopkins who is in charge of Amazon Prime is to keep subscriptions growing. This is the #1 metric stock holders track in streaming services. More subscribers means more advertisers which equals more dollars.
This is why every streamer is in search of the mythical younger audience because they represent not yet captured subscribers. Star Trek, Star Wars, Marvel and now STARGATE. We all keep saying, it makes no sense! We're not watching these new crappy shows... how can they keep making them!?!?
The Answer is BECAUSE WE ARE ALREADY WATCHING. That's right. These streaming services can see that we are already subscribed and watching Star Trek TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager and even Enterprise. We are still watching Star Wars eps. 1-6 (okay 4-6 anyway) and we are watching Iron man through End Game.
And Guess what happened with the New Stargate Series was announced? We ramped up our watching of SG1, Atlantis and Universe with our Amazon Prime subscriptions!
That was the moment they got us. And it was the moment they realized they didn't need us for new Stargate. Here is the executive pitch:
"Old fans are already subscribed. They are watching the old shows and they aren't going anywhere. Since we don't have to release the views on new shows, we don't have to count on them. What we need is to focus on NEW FANS... people not already subscribed to watch Stargate. Now, who are those people? Young people, Gen Z and Gen Alpha, mostly women and young people struggling to find their identities. This generation is young and emotional and the content needs to reflect that. Besides, old fans will probably watch the new stuff anyways."
What about advertisers? Won't they be upset by the views? NO! Because they are advertising across platforms and streamers can fudge the views however they want. But they can't lie on that 10-Q form to the SEC without repurcussions.
So Amazon Studios TV Chief Peter Friedlander wants to keep his job and decides to hire Blair Fetter from Netflix because Netflix is arguably the only streamer that has found the mythical audience. Gero is Out and they hire 47 year old Jac Shaeffer, whose Agatha All Along and work on Wanda Vision will 100% create Stargate to capture this small and non paying segment of the population.
That's right. I don't know how Amazon hasn't figured out that us Legacy Stargate fans are the ones paying the subscription fees for this Younger Audience who mostly still lives at home.
That's why Robocop's original co-creators are working on the new Amazon series still. Because there is not enough original content to capture original fans yet. They are going to have to build that audience with this show and then they can replace them with future content.
So, if you really want these streaming services to do the right thing, perhaps it's time we start pulling old DVDs out of storage bins and start watching our favorite old shows from physical media because that will scare the shit out of them. And just perhaps, they'll eventually start making new content for us again. #SaveStargate
