Wyoming’s Industrial Development Information and Siting Act guides the permit and regulation process for constructing large industrial facilities in Wyoming. This includes any project exceeding $290,700,000, such as power generation, manufacturing, data centers, carbon capture and certain mining operations. Wind and solar projects are generating significant sales and property tax revenue for counties across the state. Those dollars go straight to work supporting our public schools, helping maintain transportation infrastructure, and keeping county roads graded and streets plowed through long winters. Renewables are meant to compliment our legacy energy industries, not replace them. We are stronger when we utilize all available energy resources and maintain a balanced energy mix that keeps utilities affordable and reliable. By adding new sources of generation alongside coal, natural gas, and emerging technologies, we strengthen the grid, protect ratepayers and support our local communities. "Wyoming’s [energy development] process recognizes that responsible development is not just about whether a project can be built. It is about how it is built, where it is built, how impacts are addressed, and ensuring that communities are heard along the way." cowboystatedaily.com/2026/07…

Keeping Wyoming open for business is essential to our future. Our schools, counties, roads, small businesses and working families all depend on a strong economy. The next generation of our youth wants to stay in the Cowboy State, but we need jobs to retain them. New energy investment does that by supporting jobs, tax revenue, and long-term opportunities.

Wyoming has long been an energy leader, and its strong wind resources position it well to meet the nation’s growing electricity demand. While Wyoming’s energy future will likely include a mix of resources, including traditional fuels and emerging technologies, cost-competitive renewables can help: * Keep electricity prices more affordable * Meet growing energy demand * Diversify Wyoming’s energy portfolio * Support continued investment in energy infrastructure Learn more: poweringupwyoming.org/wind-%…

Wyoming is an energy leader. For many decades, we have powered the nation and fueled innovation and that leadership has made the Cowboy State a place that has embraced all available energy resources. Wind development has recently come under attack, and while robust discussion is always an essential part of the democratic process, we must base our arguments on facts, not fiction. The spread of misinformation is a “false flag” designed to make you think that elected officials are shirking their responsibilities when it comes to development around renewable projects. Nothing could be further from the truth. Every project, whether in southeast Wyoming or elsewhere in the state, goes through a thorough Industrial Siting process that is among the most rigorous in the country. Developers are required to complete extensive social, economic, and environmental studies, often resulting in applications that run thousands of pages. They must coordinate with 19 state agencies, including the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, before the Wyoming Industrial Siting Council even considers a project. These are not rushed approvals. They are deliberate, transparent, and built to ensure impacts are fully understood and addressed.
