In 2007, Lord David Steel, who introduced the legislation, expressed concern about the widespread use of abortion, acknowledging that he had not anticipated such high numbers. He said: “𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. 📞🗣📩 @ ✍️🏻 LOBBY FOR LIFE WEEK - 20th - 27th October. With the next Northern Ireland Assembly Election just six months away, it is vital that the protection of unborn children remains firmly on the political agenda. Please contact your elected representatives and make your position clear: you will only vote for politicians who are committed to restoring full legal protection for unborn babies in Northern Ireland. Ask them to guarantee that they will do everything in their power to repeal Section 9 and restore protection for every unborn child. If a politician or party is unwilling to make that commitment, tell them you CANNOT give them your vote, no matter how appealing their other policies may be. Remind them that, a baby is a person, no matter how small and without the right to life, all other rights are meaningless. 🔗 Find out more: mailchi.mp/preciouslife/life… #LobbyForLife #RepealSection9 #RestorePersonhood
