Women Drone Pilots Advancing Precision Farming and Sustainable Agriculture
From fields to flight paths, women across Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Chhattisgarh are driving a new phase of technology-enabled agriculture through drone-based precision spraying services.
Through certified training and service-led models, rural women are deploying drones across 4,000+ acres of farmland, reducing water use by up to 90 percent, cutting spraying time to minutes per acre, improving operational efficiency, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The initiative demonstrates how women-led agri-tech innovation can strengthen climate-smart farming, optimise resource use, and advance sustainable agricultural transformation.

Advancing Drone Technologies for Fisheries & Women Empowerment
The Department of Fisheries, Government of India, with technical support from ICAR-CIFRI, is advancing drone technologies for live fish transport—marking a major innovation in the fisheries sector.
In this context, Jatiya Mahila Matsyajibi Diwas 2025 was celebrated on 26 December 2025 at Kultali, Sundarban, West Bengal. The programme was organised by ICAR-CIFRI in collaboration with National Fisheries Development Board and Kultali Milon Tirtha Society, with a strong focus on women empowerment and sustainable fisheries livelihoods.
The event was inaugurated by the DDG (Fisheries), ICAR, along with senior officials from ICAR-CIFRI and NFDB.
Key Highlights:
•4,000+ women fishers mobilised
•Live demonstration of drone technology for fisheries applications

BSF Academy, Gwalior, celebrated this Vijayadashami with an *unique* and historic event. Not only in India, but this training academy of the world’s largest border guarding force has now established its supremacy and recognition at the global level.

Marut Drones raises $6.2M to scale agricultural drone innovation and empower rural reach.
Hyderabad-based Marut Dronetech has secured $6.2 million in Series A funding led by Lok Capital. This new capital will drive the development of custom agricultural drones, expansion of service networks in tier II-III cities, and the launch of “Drone-as-a-Service” hubs.
Marut plans to establish 17 new drone academies, fostering skilled professionals and boosting drone entrepreneurship across India. CEO Prem Kumar Vislawath highlighted that the investment will help Marut grow its team, scale manufacturing capacity to 3,000 drones annually, and pursue an ambitious INR 1000 crore revenue target within five years.

Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has simplified and liberalized the policy for export of Drones meant for civilian end uses from India.
