BIG | 🇱🇻🇷🇺🇳🇦‼️‼️ NATO is launching its largest-ever multinational brigade exercise in Latvia near the Russian border, involving more than 1,000 military vehicles as the Alliance demonstrates its ability to rapidly mobilize armored forces along its eastern flank.
The exercise will involve a major movement of military equipment from bases toward designated training areas near Latvia’s border with Russia. Tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and other brigade equipment will be transported by road and rail. The operation is described as the largest exercise in the history of NATO’s multinational brigade in Latvia, highlighting the scale of the planned deployment and the logistical coordination required to move heavy military formations.
The exercise represents an important test of NATO’s ability to deploy, coordinate, and sustain multinational armored forces close to Russian territory. Large-scale movements involving more than 1,000 vehicles also provide an opportunity to evaluate transport infrastructure, military logistics, and operational readiness. For the Baltic states, such exercises are particularly significant given their geographic proximity to Russia and the continuing importance of credible NATO deterrence following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine.

BIG: North Korea has placed 122mm self-propelled howitzers in the open on the Kaepung County coast, about 1.5 km from South Korea’s Aegibong Observatory in Gimpo, with their barrels pointed south.
The armour carries the slogan “Annihilate the U.S. imperialist aggressors.”
North Korean soldiers nearby were seen drilling with red flags, and armoured vehicles and fence-building work were also observed.
North Korea normally hides its artillery on reverse slopes or in bunkers.
South Korean analysts say putting it in plain view is a deliberate show of force rather than a normal tactical deployment.

Tensions between South Korea and North Korea are intensifying significantly.
A few hours ago, three self-propelled guns belonging to the North Korean armed forces were spotted near Gimpo, with their barrels, in a highly unusual move, pointed directly toward the South Korean border.
North Korea publicly announced today, October 26, that it had sent a letter to the UN Security Council claiming that last month's landmine explosion in the Demilitarized Zone was a staged incident orchestrated by South Korea.
They further warned that any "irresponsible move" by the South Korean military would be met with a direct and immediate military response, citing the principle of self-defense as outlined in the UN Charter.
In light of these events, it seems clear to me that the decision to point the self-propelled guns directly at South Korea is an act of intimidation intended to instill fear, particularly because such artillery is designed to operate kilometers away from the border, from concealed positions, such as behind mountains.
