A driver in a stolen Hummer flees police, crashes into a tractor-trailer and is injured, and the police officer gets charged? 🤷‍♂️ How about this: don’t drive a stolen vehicle. Stop when police tell you to! Also, charging the police 18 months later? Make this make sense

From one service to another, we deeply appreciate the unwavering commitment and sacrifice of these individuals who serve and protect our country. The PAO extends its sincerest condolences to the families and colleagues of those who have lost their lives, and wishes a swift and full recovery to all who are injured.

Thank you, Premier Ford, for listening to our members' concerns and recommendations and for working to develop a plan that better supports our members and their safety. We appreciate your leadership and commitment, and look forward to the same strong collaboration with @SeanFraserMP and @gary_srp as we work together to address this critical issue. We will never waver in our commitment to the safety and well-being of our members.
Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. The least we can do in response is have their backs, no matter what. Today, I wrote to the Prime Minister outlining a series of practical steps to support and protect our brave women and men in uniform.

Over the past two days in Ottawa, I was proud to join leadership from the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the Canadian Police Association for an important Officer Safety Summit. I’m encouraged by the commitment around the table. Police leaders and associations won’t always agree on every issue, but when it comes to the safety of our members, we must work together—and turn these conversations into meaningful action. Thank you to the CPA and CACP for bringing us together around this shared priority.

This is disgusting and must stop. We cannot have a criminal justice system where criminals are getting a reduced sentence so they don’t get deported! It’s time judges and offenders in this country start being held accountable.

Today, the Police Association of Ontario met with Attorney General of Ontario, Minister Doug Downey, to discuss key issues impacting our members across the province. We emphasized the need for adequate resources to support the prosecution of assaults against police officers and stressed the importance of consistent, province-wide data collection on criminal charges related to these incidents. We also discussed strengthening judicial accountability through independent oversight. We appreciate the opportunity to engage in these important conversations and look forward to continuing our work with Minister Downey to advance issues that support the safety, well-being, and interests of our members.

Absolutely appalling news out of Belleville. A Belleville Police Service officer was shot while bravely guarding the Sons of Jacob Synagogue and the Jewish community during Yom Kippur. Our thoughts are with the officer, their loved ones, and everyone affected by this horrific act. Everyone deserves to feel safe in their homes and places of worship. Those responsible must be held fully accountable. Read our full statement below. @BLVLPoliceAssoc @BLVLPolice
