When my wife suggested we open our marriage, she gave me one condition: neither of us was allowed to fall in love with someone else.
Eleven months later, she was standing in our kitchen, crying because the woman I was dating had just told me she was pregnant.
The irony? My wife was the one who insisted that we stop pretending we were happy with monogamy.
I'm 36, and my wife, Lauren, is 34. We'd been married for six years without children. We had good jobs, a comfortable house, and a marriage that looked perfect to everyone around us.
Behind closed doors, however, Lauren had become increasingly dissatisfied.
She wanted excitement. She wanted to meet new people, go on dates, and experience the kind of attention she said she had missed by marrying young.
I wasn't interested.
But after months of arguments, she finally told me she couldn't continue feeling trapped in a marriage where her desires didn't matter.

I'm 21, my husband is 72, and I love him. I need people to hear that first, because everything after it will sound like I'm lying.
We met when I was 19, working the front desk at a hotel where he stayed every month. He was the only guest who ever asked how my day was and waited for the answer. He was gentle and funny, and he made me feel like the most interesting person in any room. Within a year we were married. People said what you'd expect: gold digger, daddy issues, phase. I stopped defending it, because he was the first person who ever made me feel safe.
The problem is that he runs a company, and the company runs him. He's gone two or three weeks a month, sometimes more. I rattle around a big, quiet house, talk to the housekeeper because she's the only one there, and eat dinner at 9 p.m. in front of a screen.
I tried to hide it. But one night he called from a hotel in another city and heard it in my voice. I broke down and told him I was lonely.
He didn't get defensive or tell me I was being dramatic. He said, "I hate that I did this to you. Let me fix it."

HR: “Your employment has been terminated due to downsizing.”
Me: “After 12 years of service, what happens to my severance pay and pension?”
HR: “You are not entitled to the benefits you are requesting.”
Me: “But my pension contributions were deducted from my salary. Where did the money go?”
HR: “You will have to take that up with management.”
He refused to give up and took his former employer to court.
The day my divorce was finalized, my ex-husband called me crying, asking for money to pay our daughter’s school fees.
Two years earlier, he had sent me away with nothing but a travelling bag and our three-year-old daughter.
He told our families he was tired of the marriage and wanted peace. I begged him to reconsider, but he had already made up his mind.
After the divorce, I struggled to survive. I started selling food from home, saved every little profit, and paid our daughter’s school fees without asking him for help.
Sometimes, I went to bed hungry so my daughter could eat.
Then, one Monday morning, my phone rang.
It was my ex-husband.
His voice was shaking.

Batman’s death was genuinely some of the worst writing I’ve seen literally ever. They really killed the franchise with this game just for no one to play it anyway.
