Another shitty death in a year of shitty deaths. Patrick Stewart was one of my favorite actors, and Captain Picard is more or less a north star. Seeing that he and the TNG cast were all really close for years after the show ended kind of shows how cool of a guy he was. RIP

Not only was Sir Patrick Stewart a deeply talented man and unending joy in his acting roles, he was beyond all things a mensch. He spoke out on domestic violence when most men are silent. His memory will certainly be for a blessing.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIRE THE GRIM REAPER. HE'S TAKING OUT TOO MANY OF THE GOOD ONES THIS YEAR.
Now seeing Patrick Stewart join the list of those who passed in 2026, it's just seriously one devastation after another 😭 So many legends who will never be forgotten for their impact.
> be Patrick Stewart
> grow up in a house with no bathroom or hot water
> discover acting and feel safe on stage
> lose your hair by 19
> think your romantic life is over
> become a Shakespearean actor
> spend years performing with the Royal Shakespeare Company
> get offered the role of Captain Picard at 47
> be told by Ian McKellen not to take it
> take it anyway
> play Picard for more than 35 years
> become Professor X along the way
> reunite with McKellen as Magneto
> get knighted by Queen Elizabeth II
> speak publicly about the violence you witnessed as a child
> help women and children facing domestic abuse
> die at 86
> leave behind characters that millions grew up with
I grew up seeing him on screen. I think part of me expected him to always be there.
Rest in peace, Patrick...

thinking of sir patrick stewart’s family right now, but especially thinking of sir ian mckellen. their friendship was so deep and meaningful, and spanned decades. so devastating ❤️🩹❤️🩹
And the worst part is he was actually understating the contagious disease spreading across the world because of that fat orange fuck.
RIP, you magnificent bastard. I love you.

Patrick Stewart on Trump (2017): “You might say to me, well, you’re not an American, what has it got to do with you? The fact is when America sneezes, the world catches a cold. America I think is on the edge of a very bad flu infection and it’s because of the man who’s in the White House”

Not only was he a great actor he was a progressive activist who supported LGBTQ rights, universal healthcare, destigmatizing mental health issues, and was fiercely opposed to nationalism. He truly lived the ideals of Star Trek.
Forgive me, but I may be completely inconsolable for a while.
I haven't felt as much pain due to a celebrity death that isn't wrestling-related in a very, very long time.

I knew this day would eventually come, and I knew I’d be upset. But man it’s hitting me hard. His portrayal of Picard gave me a very important male role model to follow as a kid. Someone with morals, empathy, & strong sense of justice. Picard showed me you can be blunt and honest with someone without being rude. That you can lead without being a tyrant. That to ask for help, didn’t mean weakness. That standing up for what you believe in and speaking out against wrong is so important. Obviously Sir Patrick was an extraordinary man in his own right and Picard didn’t define him, but it’s how I was introduced to him. On to the next frontier sir. Engage.
