New admin have tremendous pressure to succeed from day one. Turnover rate is high. The most effective and really only way to survive is to build strong relationships with staff first then focus on the stuff. Otherwise you may not be there long enough for either.

If you think teacher’s aren’t doing anything during remote work, they’re doing more! Prepping lessons creating videos or doing them live. Replying to questions concerns & emails constantly collect / grade work give feedback/ remediate Attend meetings connect/ support students PD

New admin don’t let the imposter syndrome overtake you where you feel like you have to know & do it all to prove you’re a leader. Your staff doesn’t expect you to know/ do it all They just want you to be trustworthy, relatable, value them & have their back.

During Chorus today we were singing a song called β€œlittle snowflake” and I looked up from the video to look at the kids and they were holding these snowflakes up to the screen. It was a joyous moment that came at a time where I was really missing hearing these kids singing.
