i swear to god modern epistemology needs to be taught in high schools. people need to learn that falsifiability is not the sole criteria for a scientific theory to exist
string theory for some reason is very popular to hate on by laypeople (and sabine hossenfelder but she’s a complete crank), and i struggle to understand why, particularly when you do not understand this physics and particularly when most physicists do not study string theory

We mourn the passing of Patrick Stewart, who inspired countless individuals at NASA (and beyond) to boldly go where no one has gone before.

i don’t do a lot of rt stuff related to pollutants or highly absorbing aerosols but I think this is quite interesting. the top of this plume seems to be optically thinner which allows for quite a good deal of scattering. id love to know what this aerosol is made of

i mean it’s probably refractory black carbon but im not certain the importance of microphysics here vs the plume spreading and physically thinning. this is much closer to meteorology than i have specialty in

i'm afraid i'm going to sound insane saying this but i think i might be making some genuinely novel physics finding(s) right now and every single time a test runs i get so anxious yet every single time so far they have come back supporting the hypothesis i feel a deep sense of aw right now, like i'm witnessing secrets unraveling before my eyes, dumbfounded questioning if this is even real... it's scary... i don't wanna sound insane because i know i sound insane right now, my heart is beating so fast, it feels like a glass house of cards... yet the tests keep coming back supporting my hypothesis if this maintains i will publish my findings asap. i cannot wait to share this with the world

theories, regardless of mathematical validity. to be a good physicist and produce a good theory you need to learn physics in the first place. if you have no idea what the work being produced means or implies beyond what the llm told you, you are not a good physicist.

pay money to put a cheap cinematic filter on your photos holy ass
So I recently badgered my cinematographer @steveyedlin into making my ideal iPhone still camera app. It shoots RAW, bypasses the iPhone's look processing and instead uses the same image processing we use on our movies. apps.apple.com/app/apple-sto…

because the diameter of a telescope only limits the maximum magnification of the telescope, because the larger it is, the brighter the image. saturn is quite bright, so this is no problem for small telescopes. scienceofgadgets.com/post/ho… on geometric optics: lehman.edu/faculty/anchordoq…
