Charted the past three months of open weight model @OpenRouter data across all models on all providers. - Performance to price has, as expected, a modest positive correlation. - Reliability to price has roughly no correlation. Average reliability is well under two nines.

Table thoughts at our @worldbuildvc compute dinner this week: Modular, offgrid compute is the way forward The curve of token usage is about to get even steeper as agents use agents, and cloud alone cannot meet that demand Multi GW campuses are going to have a tough time Compute is now primarily a financial engineering/credit game The market overestimates frontier-lab pedigree as a prerequisite for frontier-level AI capability

Today's a record day for open weight share of tokens on Vercel AI Gateway. Aug 22 (today) 🟦 Open: 62% 🟨 Closed: 38% Jun 24 (~2 months ago) 🟦 Open: 28.4% 🟨 Closed: 71.6% This is very likely just the start, because enterprise adoption is still early, and harnesses, CLIs, IDEs, SDKs, etc need to be adapted to be model agnostic.

Grok 4.6 just dropped. what matters for how I work: - beats every frontier model - 73% cheaper than Fable - big jump from the model we just shipped 4 weeks ago frontier intelligence should be accessible for everyone. that's the whole game.
Introducing Grok 4.6. It delivers frontier intelligence and is a significant improvement over Grok 4.5 at the same price.

Wow. @deepseek_ai's V4-Pro just launched via API and it looks incredible. This thing costs $0.87/M out. Opus is $25/M out. It's almost 30x cheaper than Opus! Benchmarks looks like it's somewhere between Opus 4.8 and Opus 5 quality. Absolutely incredible deflation in frontier intelligence costs. Kimi was 40% cheaper than Opus, but Deepseek V4-Pro is 94% cheaper than Kimi. (Added bolding because the Chinese seem to never bold their benchmarks tables)

This insane result from Claude is the biggest in analytic number theory since bounded prime gaps in 2013. It boosted the proven fraction of Riemann zeta zeros on the critical line by 25.6pts. In the 37yrs prior, mathematicians moved it 0.8pts.

the sf tennis reservation system will become one of the most hardened softwares on the planet of earth
SITUATION DETECTED: In Australia's first known autonomous AI cyberattack, an OpenClaw agent used a vulnerability in a gym’s API to leapfrog scheduling restrictions for a gym class, and then forcefully cancelled another person's reservation to move its user up the list, per ABC.

This is awesome work by @ArtificialAnlys. Correctness is quickly becoming a top issue with open intelligence workloads, and providers silently change behavior by tuning, quantizing, and otherwise changing the base model that builders have run evals on and expect.
Announcing the Artificial Analysis Endpoint Accuracy Index, measuring how much of an open weights model's accuracy each serverless API endpoint preserves. We are initiating coverage with GLM-5.2, gpt-oss-120b and DeepSeek V4 Pro, with Kimi K3 coming soon Providers trade off accuracy to optimize for speed and cost. They quantize weights, write custom kernels and tune their inference stacks, and sometimes they simply ship bugs. We are bringing the rigor of our Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index to measuring endpoints, so developers can pick providers on accuracy, not just price and speed We benchmark each serverless endpoint against our own self-hosted reference deployment of the official weights, where 100% represents matching the reference. An endpoint is at reference parity when its result falls within the 95% confidence interval of the reference. Coverage is live for GLM-5.2, gpt-oss-120b and DeepSeek V4 Pro, with Kimi K3 accuracy coverage launching soon Key elements of the Endpoint Accuracy Index: ➤ Three areas, equally weighted: tool calling (BFCL-500, 500 questions, 3 repeats), scientific reasoning (HLE-250, 250 questions, 10 repeats) and long context recall (AA-LCR-25, 25 questions, 10 repeats). Each subset separates endpoints on the serving choices that drive accuracy differences, with repeats sized for tight confidence intervals ➤ Reference deployment: we self-host the official weights at the lab's recommended precision, following the lab's serving recipe, and publish the complete commands for each reference ➤ Inference parameters: we run the model's highest supported reasoning mode and each endpoint's highest supported output length and context window ➤ Confidence intervals: the parity test accounts for uncertainty in both the endpoint's runs and the reference's runs ➤ Rotating coverage: models enter once sufficient number of providers serve them and exit when a newer version in the same family supersedes them. We benchmark new endpoints as providers launch them and refresh all listed endpoints periodically ➤ Point in time: each result carries the date it was measured, with multi-day benchmarks dated to their final day Key results for GLM-5.2 ➤ Output token limits restrict accuracy. Restrictive limits cut responses off before the model finishes reasoning, and the most restrictive endpoints score half the reference or less on HLE-250 Key results for gpt-oss-120b ➤ Tool call handling separates endpoints. Providers parse and format tool calls differently, and some endpoints score 22% on BFCL-500 against 37% for the reference ➤ Serving configuration changes what the model does at the same requested settings. Some endpoints produce far fewer reasoning tokens at the same configured level, and restricted context windows truncate long context tasks Key results for DeepSeek V4 Pro ➤ DeepSeek V4 Pro endpoints are more in line with the reference. Majority of the endpoints are at reference parity, and DeepSeek's own first-party endpoint scores slightly above the reference

Kimi K3 license. It's inspired by MIT but distinctly non-commercial, where any company making over $20M/yr must get a specific commercial deal (and display Kimi K3 if over 100M users or $20M/mo revenue)

For my first post, I’m sharing a letter @NVIDIA signed on why open models matter. AI will transform every industry, power every company, and be built by every country. Open models strengthen safety and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and diffusion, and enable sovereignty. The world needs both frontier closed models and frontier open models. images.nvidia.com/pdf/Open-W…

Feels bigger than the DeepSeek moment. Its clear that benchmarks don't tell the whole story, and that Fable/Sol tokens are likely still higher ROI on many tasks, but still - this is crazy.
Kimi K3 is the best performing model on nextjs.org/evals, ahead of Fable, reaching a comparable success rate in less time. This is the first time that an open model is ahead of all proprietary ones for this comprehensive web engineering benchmark. Notes: ▪️ Benchmarks don’t always tell the full story, although this is important signal, adding to mounting evidence that this could be a breakthrough moment for open models ▪️ No model as of yet has reached 100% completion on this set of evals. The top performer peaks at 92% and 96% “with help”
