Before WHITE LOTUS, Will Sharpe wrote and starred in a little known series, FLOWERS. This scene is so sad and beautiful in equal measure. Must watch if you haven't seen it.
Hard luck to the projects that didn't get into Sundance. Remember the 99% of submission don't make the cut and its in no way a negative reflection of your film. Keep going!

Filmmaking Tip #3.
Don't be afraid to keep your first film's budget low. You're going to make many mistakes on every film you make, but you'll learn for the next film. If you fail on too big a set that may be you're only shot. I'd much rather fail on a $100k set than a $5M one.
Filmmaking Tips #2.
Pick a deadline and work towards it. You can think that you'll shoot your film or finish your script but without a deadline to work towards, it won't happen. Parkinson's Law states that work expands to fill the time available. So pick a date and hold to it.
