These are the v good picks by @RTLarryElliott’s (outgoing Guardian economics editor) if he were the Chancellor for a day. Absolutely bang on.
And this is the full set of linked frameworks: institutions; market design; local authorities; local /national system operation from Getting energy governance right: https//projects.exeter.ac.uk/igov. Thanks @jbuckland13 @heatpolicyrich @jessbritton11
This is the pinned link to key IGov findings & frameworks - institutions; how they link to electricity market design; local government; energy system governance ie DSOs / system operation across electricity/gas/storage etc; & how they all link together projects.exeter.ac.uk/igov
What a great book. As @helenlewis says she is not talking about ‘being rude, thoughtless, obnoxious or a diva’ & then explains what she means. Everyone should read this book to understand what women went through to enable our current legal rights eg divorce, education etc
@RoryStewartUK Politics On the Edge is a great book and a real indictment of the state of the UK’s political system. I found the chapters on Africa and Prisons the most depressing. The sooner the UK’s voting and governing systems are overhauled the better.
Great article by @gsoh31 in today’s FT. As he says, at some point some Govt is going to have to take apart the current funding and regulatory system and start again. Until then, imo, unis are declining; students suffer; & UK plc also lose out on their rightful benefits
Good final para in Bush’s FT article on universities. He misses an impt point. Once Govt/LP decide on what they want from universities then they need to reset regulation to achieve their goals. As with most systems in the UK, uni regulation is the basis of the current problems.
Very good FT View & Letter from the Editor on Generative AI: ‘a prediction engine; learning from the past; replicating existing societal perspectives, including historical biases’. Obv some uses as well but caution needed to stop misinformation. @FT @ftopinion
