Walzer was a last holdout on the social democratic left who was willing to make it possible for the West to fight its enemies without being completely hamstrung by ethical and legal rules that essentially allow the enemy to win so long as defeating them harms "too many" civilians.
Even if one believed this saved civilians in the short-run, in the long-run it leads to the end of civilized society, as civilized countries can't fight, but barbarians, who don't care about any moral or legal rules, aren't constrained at all.

As I followed pro-El-Sayed Jewish canvasses, I found evidence that Rogers’s ethnic divide-and-conquer strategy was working with at least some Jews. Some expressed outright fear, with one saying that “if Abdul wins, there’s going to be another Holocaust.” jewishcurrents.org/in-michig…

I don't know of any Jewish person in politics, government, advocacy, or entertainment who has embraced, coddled, befriended, and protected people who wants to destroy American Jewish Institutions more than Bernie Sanders.

@bradlander was detained for violating the terms of his tourist visa
There are no countries or war zones where you can show up and start working unauthorized on a tourist visa
Lander is lying and telling folks he was arrested for harvesting olives

It's so dishonest of you to talk about single-issue "pro-Israel" voters, when what's upset Jewish voters more than anything is (1) Him running a primary campaign demonizing AIPAC in a way very reminiscent of demagogic antisemitic campaigns throughout modern Western history; (2) his immediate reaction to the attempted murder of dozens of Jewish preschoolers by a domestic terrorist, "hurt people hurt people", ie empathy with the terrorist, not the victims; and (3) campaigning with a notorious antisemite, Hasan Piker.
Note that none of those are "Israel" they are about stoking antisemitism, and empathizing with those who would mass-murder Jewish children.
And non-Jewish voters who care about antisemitism/racism, as progressive claim to, should be just as upset about this as Jewish voters.

I think if you don't like Trump and want to see his power checked you should feel comfortable voting for Abdul El-Sayed.
Of course if you're a single-issue pro-Israel voter then it is what it is, but there's no indication of moderation in Rogers' record.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume that you didn't send your son to a synagogue preschool (although I know you were raised Jewish), so you have no idea the visceral fear Jewish parents who do of hearing of a terrorist barely thwarted from a mass murder spree at such a school, and their visceral disgust that El-Sayed's first reaction was empathy for the terrorist.

Yes, El-Sayed signed a letter in Arabic in 2012 calling on the new Muslim brotherhood government in Egypt to crack down on dissenters.
It’s so outrageous that people think that it must be made up right-wing propaganda, but it’s real. 1/

El-Sayed said at the debate tonight that he didn't issue a statement on the Oct. 7 anniversary yesterday because he didn't want to politicize it.
Except, last Oct. 7, @AbdulElSayed issued a statement and also a fundraising email that criticized Israel but not Hamas.

"Protestors" came to a leftist 10/7 memorial attended by Mamdani, heckled the participants, mocked Israeli victims, stole and vandalized memorial candles, and Rabbi Lau-Lavie says the hatred was "coming from a good place."
No, rabbi, it wasn't. It was coming from a toxic red-green alliance mix that results in genocidal antisemitism. There's no more reason to give them the benefit of the doubt than Brownshirts assaulting Jews in the streets in the 1930s.

Note that El-Sayed's objection to Piker's rhetoric is not that its anti-American, pro-Communist, and antisemitic, but only that it's costing him votes.

lol, expelling students for interfering with other people’s right to peacefully hold a class is what the ACLU and Amnesty call “suppression of free speech.” In fact, allowing student mobs to disrupt classes would be an actual example.

Mamdani thinks Israel should not exist, falsely accuses Israel of genocide, has supported Hamas in the past, and refuses to condemn calls for Israel's violent destruction ("river to the sea", reasonably interpreted).
