I wrote 2,000 words about the fishiness of the NFL’s latest scandal for our newspaper here in Knoxville. The more I hear and read about this story, I find it forcing us to ask questions of the whole sports/media industrial complex.
Opinion: The Mike Vrabel/Dianna Russini story hides something more scandalous than the ethical or moral failings of two people, writes a Knoxville professor. knoxnews.com/story/opinion/c…
Welp, that’s game. Eagles offense looked like it had some juice but the defense let them down. Couldn’t get a stop. Run defense and pass rush were especially subpar.
Can’t tell if the Eagles finally figured out how to execute WR screens or if the Cowboys defense is just that bad.
The city of Philadelphia had just about given up on the Eagles so of course the Birds do this.
#Eagles offense with its first touchdown to open the game. This one covers 75 yards in just four plays. Easily their best possession this season. Saquon Barkley featured with two carries for 37 yards and a TD. Makai Lemon also caught a 21-yard pass. Eagles, 7-3.

#Eagles QB Joe Milton was promoted and will now backup starter Tanner McKee. Cole Payton is the emergency third QB.
A great QB was ineffective playing with OL subs and his top receivers out.
I keep looking for those QBs some Eagles fans keep telling me about, who score lots of points and win big games in that situation.
Can anyone find one for me?

A vascular surgeon reached out after hearing me talk about Hurts' situation on the podcast.
Posting his comments here for what it's worth:
“Small superficial clot, below the knee, I would let him play. Put on a stocking, stay hydrated, walk around the plane every hour. But, too many unknowns. Did this happen to him before? Did it happen to a parent, a sibling? If yes, changes things, I would be much more concerned.
I always ask myself. . . should this patient have a clot? Broken bone, in a cast. . .yes, a clot can happen. Young, healthy, active, uninjured- shouldn't have a clot.
Now he has progressed to an embolus. In my opinion, he should not have developed emboli from a cleat injury unless he has an underlying clotting disorder. These can be tricky to diagnose if there is no family or personal history. Like Chris Bosh, I'm concerned for his career.”
The sport demands too much for management to ask players to go out & sacrifice their bodies for nothing. Certainly you can’t embrace that goal over 11 remaining games. It would destroy the fabric of the team. This isn’t fantasy football or Madden. These are real people w/careers.
There are players and coaches on the #Eagles that don’t believe that.
I’ve never met a football player or coach that wants to tank.
Front office would agree with you.

Never has a bad take fit a meme more perfectly.
its just bonkers the new policy @airbnb is trying to put in place. Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, taking out the trash, pulling the sheets off the bed....they are just standard things any normal person would do when staying at a house. Why wouldn't a host be allowed to say that?

“It sucks that…people try to make it an Eagles vs. Jalen thing.”
Saquon Barkley with some candid and thoughtful comments on the Jalen Hurts situation.

I get it, but let's not act as if he could really live anywhere except deep in the trees on the Main Line.
This isn’t happening. The fact that his agent helped clarify the details of his hospitalization in London suggests things are (probably) sympatico between him and the org. (For the record, I still blame the Eagles for not taking a more cautious approach)
I don’t think ya’ll appreciate enough the significance of what is happening here.
It appears we have a very real chance that an active NFL player could sue the team he is under contract with for putting him in a life-threatening position / making his medical condition worse.
Not just any active NFL player, but a starting QB and recent Super Bowl MVP.
A potential lawsuit would rock the NFL, and call into question injury reporting, international game travel protocol, reporting, and a potential coverup.
Here’s the thing: Tom is a good reporter. He certainly didn’t make up his original report. Somebody wanted that “Jalen stayed awake for 36 hours before playing” story out there, for some reason. It wouldn’t have been the Eagles, it made them look terrible. So, who? And, why?
Just spoke to Jalen Hurts’ agent, Nicole Lynn, who clarified that while Hurts was up until early Sunday morning getting evaluated at a hospital, he was able to sleep upon rejoining the team and the Eagles set aside a room for him at the stadium. Videos from the stadium show Hurts coming onto the field just before kickoff and he felt rested enough to play.
