Leftists dream of a more effective Democratic party.
Democrats dream of a more effective Republican party.
Hillary Clinton: “The Republican Party is no longer a political party, it is a cult devoted to Trump and Trump’s power. The Republican Party needs a total transformation. If we’re gonna have a healthy government that actually gets things done and delivers for people, the Republican Party has to purge itself of everybody that lost both their conscience and their backbone over the last ten years and that’s most of them”

There’s much about this that’s false but on the issue of “terrorism” it’s worth highlighting again that in the past 30 years Israel had killed more American civilians than Hezbollah and Iran combined and it’s not particularly close.

I wonder if there’s any group other than Muslims you could write this about and keep your column at @TheAtlantic
The Mehdi Hasan Test for immigration to the United States:
People with the views and associations of Mehdi Hasan should be barred from American citizenship.

the President targeting a sitting member of the opposition party for arrest and deportation three weeks before the midterms would normally be a major story but it was ignored entirely by all four Sunday shows yesterday because the target is The Wrong Race, Religion and Ideology.

the best selling video game of all time was made in the Soviet Union
Replying to @nyaraVT
These faggots legitimately think there would be videogames in a socialist dictatorship
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Tetris sales aggregate many separate versions over decades; sources like Guinness World Records list Minecraft as the best-selling video game. Original creator Alexey Pajitnov received no royalties for the first decade as rights were held by his Soviet employer.

With rare exception, the response to President Trump's raid of Rep. Ilhan Omar from the mainstream media’s pundit class has been largely muted, with the vast bulk of the coverage coming in the form of he said/she said, down-the-middle reporting. This is in stark contrast with how elite opinion-shapers responded with uniform outrage in the days after Trump’s also dubious raid on John Bolton.
The very day of the Bolton raid, we saw scathing editorials from the New York Times, Washington Post, and Wall Street Journal. Over the next week, each of these newspapers also published separate pieces from their opinion staff opposing the raid, casting doubt on its legitimacy, and otherwise leveling outrage at the obvious power grab. The raid was explicitly condemned in Politico, The New Yorker, and The Atlantic, which published four different indignant columns.

it has been two days and neera tanden, tim miller, sarah longwell, and the entirety of third way have been dead silent on the president's use of dhs to raid congresswoman ilhan omar's house in an effort to denaturalize and deport her

When Trump raided John Bolton last year it was met w/ immediate outrage in the opinion pages of NYT, WSJ, WaPo, Atlantic & New Yorker. Since Rep Omar was raided Mon––and subsquently threatened w/ deportation––these same outlets have been silent. I wrote about this double standard
Unlike the raid on John Bolton, the targeting of Omar has elicited zero condemnation from NYT, WSJ, and Washington Post. theintercept.com/2026/10/15/…
