NEW VIDEO
This is probably the most personal video I've ever made.
A few weeks ago, I lost my dog, Fischer, and it really changed the way I understand FF7 Rebirth. I think grief reveals something about the game that theory alone never could.

The reality is, most games (like students) are passable at the very least. I imagine reviewers, like teachers, don’t regularly use the ENTIRE scale of grading because the lowest scores must be reserved for the most deficient projects. To give a playable game a 0-5 is disingenuous
I get that people do not want to hear it, but the video game industry has been shaped almost entirely into a US letter grade system over the years due to score inflation
like this chart is...quite close to accuate, at least per public perception and how people react to scores when given (we can uh, avoid the GPA calcuation)
There are tweaks certainly. I'd throw an A+ in there, and anything above a 90 is probably a flat A in most people's view. I'd make 60 a D- but yes, like in school, anything under a 60 is almost certainly a failure. Things like 2s don't even functionally work most of the time. If a studio releases a AAA game that lands a 60 across the board, it is likely in some pretty serious danger. This is not how things work in movie or TV scoring
I do think the focus is narrowing too much, even with this scale reference. It at least feels like 90% of big releases this year are between like an 84-89
Headed to Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area for a digital media communication and content creation thing. Any suggestions for while I’m there?
I do not have time for this 😭

I’m going to have to take a day off work to finish the final battle
FF7 Revelation Director Hamaguchi reveals more information about the final battle against Sephiroth in the 3rd game saying it will reach the hearts of many people.
He says the following:
"We actually already put one part of the original game's final battle with Sephiroth in Rebirth. [...] Since Revelation is the last part of the Remake series, we made sure to pack in as much as we could for the Sephiroth battle since we know that fans will be extremely looking forward to how it will play out. We hope you will enjoy it!
Sephiroth's character hasn't changed greatly from the original game, but since the Remake series graphics are extremely detailed, he's not just an ordinary villain. His motives are influenced by his thoughts and feelings. Since Revelation is the last installment, we want to make sure we properly deliver on Sephiroth's character to the fans.
On that note, we have really put a lot of thought into the design of the final battle with Sephiroth, and I think we will be able to reach the hearts of many people with what we have in store."
Nathan: Do you understand why this is funny?
Elizabeth: Because she misspeaks.
Nathan: Sorta. It’s a silly mistranslation that’s also relevant because though it’s one person who is sick, he’s in a collective group who is also sick.
Billy: Re…un…ion…
I don’t know if I have ever been so hyped for a game I’ve ALREADY PLAYED as I am for the Ocarina of Time remake.
