A man spotted people trespassing on his private riverfront property near his home and decided to drive them away by firing at them with an airsoft rifle
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The video compiles edited prank clips (e.g. airsoft neighbor sniping and "swim spot" bee prank) from MrTechnicalDifficult, not real footage of a homeowner firing on trespassers. facebook.com/reel/183218747… facebook.com/reel/294300922… instagram.com/MRTECHNICALDIF…

As President Reagan has said: β€œFreedom is never more than one generation away from extinction.” Ronald Reagan believed every generation has a responsibility to protect the freedoms and opportunities they inherit and to pass them on to the next. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Did you know that the subject of "Hang on Sloopy" is a Steubenville, Ohio girl named Dorothy 'Dottie' Sloop, a jazz artist who performed in the quartet Southland Rhythm Girls? Did you also know that it was a Dayton, Ohio band called The McCoy's who made the song famous? After seeing her perform at the band's club in New Orleans, "Twist & Shout" song-writer Bert Russell Berns was inspired enough by Dottie to write the iconic song, which was originally entitled "My Girl Sloopy" and performed by The Vibrations, who took it to No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1964. The song was soon rerecorded by the McCoys as a rock song entitled "Hang on Sloopy." That version Hit No. 1 in 1965, and was first played by @TBDBITL a week after it hit No. 1, and has been played at the end of the third quarter now for more than 60 years. Ohio is the only state in the union to have an official rock song: "Hang on Sloopy."

The Republicans were crushed in the 1974 midterms. Reagan later delivered a speech explaining why: ♦️ β€œThe meaning of the last election will not be found among those who voted. It will be found among those who stayed homeβ€”the biggest non-voter bloc in our nation’s history. And why did they stay home? Well, because they said they couldn’t see any difference between the two parties.”♦️ There’s a lesson in that worth remembering. You can’t win voters by simply telling them how bad the other side is. You have to give them a compelling reason to vote for you. Stand for something. Be bold, unapologetically conservative, offer a clear contrast, and most importantly, deliver on the promises you campaigned on. Voters need to see a real difference, not just hear about one.

Teaching is not a job, it's a calling. It's a chance to make a difference in the lives of our students, to help them grow and develop into the best versions of themselves.

We keep blaming teachers for declining literacy. But have we stopped to consider how dramatically children's lives have changed? We're raising a generation surrounded by 15-second videos, endless scrolling, and constant notifications. Many children spend more time swiping through content than sitting down with a book. Then we expect them to sit for 30 or 60 minutes, read complex passages, make inferences, and demonstrate deep comprehension on standardized tests. Scrolling is a sprint. Reading is a marathon. Children are becoming accustomed to information arriving in short bursts. They skim, swipe, and move on to the next thing. And when something doesn't immediately capture their attention, another video or notification is waiting. But reading requires something different. It takes patience, concentration, imagination, and the ability to stay engaged even when something is challenging. Those abilities develop through practice and experience. So if children are spending less time reading outside of school, why are we surprised when they struggle to sustain their attention while reading? And why is the teacher so often the one held responsible? Consider how many children grow up hearing bedtime stories, watching adults read, visiting libraries, or having conversations about books. Now consider how many spend those same hours in front of screens. Those experiences make a difference long before a child ever takes a reading assessment. Schools can teach children how to read, but they cannot control how children spend the other hours of their lives. And increasingly, we're asking teachers to compensate for cultural changes they had no part in creating. We also need to ask ourselves what we're doing inside schools. When we replace opportunities to read, explore, discuss, and enjoy books with more worksheets, test preparation, and assessments, are we actually helping children become better readers? A child who discovers the joy of reading is far more likely to pick up another book than one who associates reading primarily with answering questions on a test. Literacy develops through experiences, relationships, conversations, curiosity, and practice. It begins long before a standardized test and extends far beyond the classroom.
