Devanagari is an extremely elegant script. But this was never explained to us in school. A thread on the awesomeness that is devanagari. Let's start with the things that my teachers did *not* teach me in school:

Recently, a student asked me why they have to learn trigonometry which doesn’t have real life applicability. My response wasn’t convincing. Here is Stanford alumni, Hamza Alsamrae, a math major, who responds as it should be…

IIMs and historically-minded research? Two new PhD theses coming from @IIMAhmedabad and @iimb_official study phenomena over nearly a century, especially on entrepreneurship. Was lucky to be on both their dissertation committees. Brief thread on what we learn from them (1/7)

As a PhD student, all I focused on was getting a PhD. As a PhD supervisor, I focus on training students on the long-term process that leads to getting a PhD. Here's some examples🧵

A beautiful read and reminder to nurture the strong, resilient and uplifting female friendships that help us through life in solidarity. On this subject, today’s #RecommendedRead (that’s on my to-read list): Yaari: An Anthology on Female Friendships by Women and Queer Folx
"Where do we go when the scars on our flesh are so deep that they start fading from the surface and begin eating our insides? We go to each other" @Khushbu68906378 and I poured our hearts in awe of female friendships in this piece. Read? writingwomen.co/post/radical… #womenforwomen

Take a close look at this photograph. A slice of colonial India where Indian servants used to diligently sway Punkhas for their British ‘masters’. But, why aren't they pulling the ropes with their hands? Sit back as we unravel some intriguing history. Thread. 1/15

For a fantastic read on how complex cultural norms intersect with women’s tendencies to not take their health seriously, especially with lifelong lifestyle diseases like diabetes, #RecommendedRead for today: Sugar and Tension by Leslie Weaver. Insightful, rich ethnographic work!
Worrying but unsurprising trends. As a nation we need to take this rising disease burden much more seriously esp considering the long term impacts of Diabetes. Also imp to think about disproportionate gendered burdens on women who suffer acutely by placing their health last.

No cafe in Delhi’s I.G. Intl Airport T3 sells bananas. Or any other fruits. But lol you can buy costly nutritional supplements! It’s not about logistics. Bananas grow in India & are less perishable than whipped cream.
