🔍 11 species were detected, including the Critically Endangered angelshark and tope.
📅 Species detections peaked in spring.
🌍 Particle tracking simulations predicted that eDNA was shed, on average, within 15 km from the sampling stations at which it was detected.

We combined #eDNA & #ParticleTracking to explore elasmobranch distributions in 2 Special Areas of Conservation off the coast of Wales.

2 female tope sharks, tagged in Cardigan Bay this summer, have been detected 100+ miles away in the Bristol Channel!
Thanks to @SwanseaUni for alerting us to the detections, helping to learn more about tope movements around the UK coastline.

As part of @ProjectSIARC , we have created art work based on sea life and creatures of the sea. We used techniques usually associated with Aboriginal Art.
