LWN reports Python's experimental JIT is set to be removed. On Hacker News: 419 points, 220 comments.
Pulling an experiment is a healthy outcome, not a failure.
In business software, mark trial features as trials, decide up front what would earn them a permanent spot, and set a date to check.
Otherwise every trial turns into something you maintain forever.
What's one feature in your systems you'd remove if you could?

Put the payment schedule in the proposal, not in the follow-up email after they sign.
Deposit, progress payment, final. If the customer first sees that after signing, it feels like a surprise.
In the proposal:
1. List each payment and what triggers it.
2. Tie progress payments to milestones they can see.
3. Make the final payment due on completion, not "when convenient."
BidGlory proposals include a payment plan section for exactly this.
See it in BidGlory: bidglory.com/demo?utm_source…

Logs in one tool, traces in another, errors in a third. That's three tabs per bug.
Which observability platform you choose matters less than you think.
What matters:
1. Commit to one.
2. Keep logs and traces correlated inside it.
3. Use what the team already runs.
The worst pattern isn't a bad vendor. It's toggling between tools to investigate one problem while a customer waits.

Not every contractor wants a subscription accounting product. ERPNext is open source, and BidGlory treats it as a first-class option alongside QuickBooks.
A bid becomes a draft Quotation, Sales Order or Sales Invoice. Purchase orders go to suppliers. Re-sends update the draft, and if someone edited it in ERPNext, BidGlory leaves it alone and tells you.
Tested live: 43 of 43 checks on ERPNext 15, plus a pass on 16.28. And it works from a phone.

Marketplaces rent you buyers. Your own B2B store lets you keep them.
Marketplace: fast start, traffic included, ongoing fees, and the buyer data stays with the platform.
Own store: slower to build traffic, but the domain, accounts, contract pricing and order history are yours.
The pattern many sellers land on: keep the marketplace for discovery and move repeat buyers to their own store for reorders.
Where do your repeat buyers reorder today: marketplace, your own store, or email to a rep?

American Airlines is raising annual fees on its Citi AAdvantage cards, the first increase since 2018, per CNBC.
Their announcement leads with more ways to earn and added travel benefits.
If you have to raise prices on loyal B2B accounts, show what they gain and give notice. Let them see the new terms in their account before the invoice does.
How do you tell your best customers a price is going up?

Whatever AI model you pick this year will be replaced. Design for the swap.
Model lineups from the major labs change every few months.
So build the parts that last:
Your evaluation set.
Your schemas.
Your guardrails.
Your cost tracking.
Then a model change is a test run, not a rebuild.
The model layer keeps changing. Your business doesn't have to.

How to know your cold email is personal enough. One test.
Delete their name and company.
Could you send what's left to anyone else?
If yes, it is a template. Go back and find one thing only they would recognize: a product, a page, a recent change on their site.

Your ERP-to-BigCommerce sync should belong to neither the ERP nor BigCommerce.
The pattern that holds up:
1. A small middleware service owns the sync logic.
2. Every sync is keyed on a stable customer or SKU identifier, never names or addresses.
3. Every sync action goes to an audit log.
Hourly is typical. Real-time is for high-stakes data.
The audit log is the part teams skip. It's how you answer "my price changed yesterday and nobody told me."

AT&T was down for thousands of users, according to Downdetector, GV Wire reports.
An outage like this is a free drill for your own order flow.
If a rep's connection drops mid-order, does the order wait on the device and send when the signal returns, or is it gone?
Buyers remember the second one.
Has a dropped connection ever cost you an order?

"Oldest GUI application that still runs on Windows 11" is on Hacker News: 234 points, 142 comments.
Decades of backward compatibility is a big reason businesses trust a platform with daily work.
B2B works the same way. Your ERP will likely outlast your next two storefronts.
Build integrations against stable interfaces, not screens, and they keep working as everything around them changes.
What's the oldest system your business still depends on?

A failed inspection is a scheduling problem you could have seen coming weeks earlier.
In a lot of shops, permits and inspections live on a whiteboard in the office.
Put them on the job instead:
1. Which permit, filed when.
2. Which inspection, booked when.
3. What has to be finished before the inspector shows up.
Tracked beside the install status, the crew sees the deadline too, not just the office.

Your cleaned customer data starts decaying the day it ships. Test it like code.
After cleanup, write integration tests that prove three basics:
- Every active customer has exactly one primary record
- Every ship-to belongs to a customer
- Every customer has at least one valid contact
Run them before every release.
Cleanup without a test is a one-time favor. Cleanup with a test stays done.

The biggest AI model isn't always the right one. A smaller, cheaper tier is often enough.
Most AI vendors ship a flagship plus smaller, cheaper tiers.
There's no universal best model. We pick per task: writing, code migration, live research, classification. Simple jobs on a small model, hard reasoning on a big one.
The savings show up fast when the routine work stops running on the most expensive tier.
What's one task your team runs on AI that a smaller model could handle?

Keanu Reeves to star in Netflix's Maelstrom, per Variety. Page Six says it was first pitched in 1993.
Alan Ritchson dropped out, and the project kept moving.
A pitch from 1993 is still alive. Good ideas often wait on timing, not approval.
In B2B the shelved idea is usually an integration or a buyer portal. Keep its scope written down so it can move when the budget does.
What project is sitting in your drawer right now?
#KeanuReeves #Maelstrom
Sometimes the deciding factor in picking an AI model isn't intelligence. It's where your data may go.
We choose models by three things:
Capability.
Cost.
Where your data is allowed to live.
When data can't leave your environment, open-weight models and embeddings on your own infrastructure can be the right call, even if a hosted model scores higher.
Ask the residency question first.

We've built B2B systems since 2004. Lead gen is finally worth doing properly.
For years the honest answer was: real research per prospect costs more than the deal is worth.
AI accelerated drafting and research flipped that. The careful version is now the affordable version.
What part of lead gen did you give up on because it took too long?
#B2B #AI #LeadGeneration
"Can our buyers log in with Okta?" Yes. Just don't scope it as a checkbox.
B2B Edition supports buyer SSO, but there's no built-in SAML switch.
Your own service, or a marketplace SSO app, accepts the login from the customer's identity provider, then signs the buyer in through BigCommerce's Customer Login API or a B2B storefront token.
Plan 1 to 2 weeks for a production-ready build.
Then add the part you don't control: configuration inside the customer's IdP. Put their admin on the plan by name.

Brewers fans bought more than 30,000 Racing Sausages in the first two World Series games, per Sports Business Journal.
A spike like that gets planned in the warehouse, not on game night.
If your store shows stock the ERP no longer has, your busiest day turns into a day of refund emails.
Sync inventory often enough to keep up with your fastest selling hour.
How often does your storefront check real stock?

Overgrown, a browser extension where plants slowly invade your abandoned tabs, is on Hacker News: 106 points.
It's a playful idea with a point: stale things should look stale.
In B2B that's the six week old quote, the cart a buyer never finished, the price nobody rechecked.
Let your store show its age instead of hiding it.
What goes stale in your systems without anyone noticing?
