Tennessee has made major strides in education. What will it take to lead the nation?
Our state now ranks No. 1 in the South on a combined measure of fourth- and eighth-grade reading and math achievement from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). That progress gives Tennessee a strong foundation for its next chapter as the state prepares for new leadership. Going further for students will require bold, innovative ideas and a shared commitment to putting them into practice.
Join us for SCORE’s 2027 State of Education in Tennessee event as we unveil our new report, From Leading the South to Leading the Nation, and share a first look at priorities for the year ahead. Hear national experts and statewide leaders discuss the decisions ahead and how Tennessee can build on its progress and become the No. 1 state in the nation for students to learn.

On October 20, families and students came together at Christian Brothers University for 901 FAFSA Kickoff. The event brought together Memphis-area colleges and partners, including Memphis Shelby County Schools (MSCS) and Christian Brothers University (CBU), with tnAchieves, the University of Memphis, Rhodes College, TCAT Memphis and Southwest Tennessee Community College to help families navigate the college admissions and financial aid process.
Over two hours, guests learned about key admission and financial aid deadlines, picked up tips to reduce FAFSA submission errors and asked questions directly of admissions and financial aid experts from local institutions.
Completing the FAFSA is a clear next step toward a post-secondary credential. If you missed the event and need help, start here: tnAchieves.org/fafsa
