Knowing every single little character you could see in the overhead shots was independently animated by hand was probably the single most mind blowing thing a movie has ever showed me
LAIKA's ‘WILDWOOD’ has the largest battle sequence ever for a stop-motion film.
• Spans 12 minutes with over 400 shots
• Contains approx 3,000 characters
• 5 distinct sets were made — all combined were larger than the length of a building
• One person was specifically hired to track scarring & scratching on the lead character throughout the battle to ensure maximum detail

The UK has normalised being broke while working full time. You can do everything right, show up, work hard, work extra hours, stay consistent and you still end up with no money left a week or two after payday.

Western animation studios have lately become adamant that their movies should not be remotely challenging or emotionally complex because they want to be as "box office safe" as possible. It's destroying the industry and Laika seems to be one of the few voices willing to say no.
