This Budget was always going to be tough given the economic climate.
Working people understand strong public services need funding - but as they’re asked to contribute more, they’ll rightly expect real change in return.

Bectu has long campaigned for a freelance champion to be a voice for freelancers at the heart of Government 📢
It’s essential the incoming champion is given real and meaningful powers, to help set policy and to intervene on behalf of freelancers, to ensure sustained change.

It is easy to promise big cost savings but the reality is that cutting public servants means damaging the delivery of the services the public rely on.
Read our response in @CSWnews to reports that Reform plans to cut civil service jobs.
Reform says its plans if it is elected include wants closing six Whitehall offices, giving ministers powers to hire and fire officials, banning "DEI woke agenda" and "at least" 30% headcount cuts

This report confirms the extent of a problem we have been raising with the Cabinet Office on behalf of our members.
It is unacceptable that the provider of a contract of this magnitude has been allowed to tail off its service at the end of the contract with no consequence.

🚨 Prospect condemns Arron Banks’ violent remarks about civil servants.
It isn't surprising that someone like Banks who has no understanding of the complexity of government wants to see civil service job cuts, but it's shocking that anyone in politics would use such language.

This inequality is unacceptable. Government must take real action now to close the gap. theguardian.com/world/2025/a…
