As severe weather brings dangerous cold, snow, ice, and power outages to many communities, we want to recognize the National Park Service employees working through these conditions to protect visitors, safeguard resources, and support surrounding communities.
We’re grateful for their dedication and encourage everyone to:
• Check local weather and park alerts
• Follow closures and safety guidance
• Avoid unnecessary travel in impacted areas
Removing history doesn’t restore “truth.”
The Park Service has taken down an exhibit on slavery at Independence National Historical Park, part of a broader effort to erase stories of slavery, racism, and injustice from our parks.

National parks must tell the full story of America, not a sanitized one.

Tell them to reject mining in the Boundary Waters.
National Park Service employees are working hard under incredibly difficult circumstances. They deserve fair evaluations based on their work, not artificial systems that damage morale and push dedicated staff out.

New national park fee policies are causing confusion, delays, and added strain on park staff, reports @usatoday.
"This policy is also an additional burden on National Park staff, who are still grappling with a 24% reduction in the permanent workforce.”

A new piece from National Parks Traveler examines the Endangered Species Act’s record, its successes, and why efforts to weaken it could cost us far more species.
👉 nationalparkstraveler.org/20…
The Endangered Species Act works.
Because of the ESA:
• Green sea turtles rebounded from near extinction
• Humpback whales recovered after industrial whaling
• Brown pelicans made a full comeback
• Sea otters are restoring kelp forests
We are urging the EPA to reject the proposed “Updated Definition of ‘Waters of the United States’” rule.
The rollback would weaken #CleanWaterAct protections for millions of miles of streams and acres of wetlands.

A new article reveals that federal agencies approved thousands of air tours over Bay Area national parks without proper environmental review.
We joined PEER & local partners to challenge this proposal and defend wildlife, quiet, & the park experience.

Happy New Year from the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks ✨
As we welcome a new year, we’re reminded why we do this work: to protect the places that inspire us, ground us, and connect us, our national parks and public lands.
