Members @prairiefava @BigMountainFood are showing what value-added processing can look like in Canada. New data suggests that every $1 of crop inputs used in domestic processing supports approximately $3.10 in downstream food manufacturing output. That multiplier effect becomes real when Canadian-grown crops are processed into ingredients and manufactured into finished food products here at home. The opportunity for Canada is not simply to grow more crops. It is to create more value from the crops Canada already grows by building stronger ingredient processing and food manufacturing capacity here in Canada. #MakeItHere #CdnAg

Canada’s potential to make more from what we grow has far-reaching potential. Through innovative new ingredients and food products, Canada’s food production and value-added agriculture sector can do more than nourish families here at home; it can nourish the world. By turning more of our crops into nutritious, high-quality ingredients and food products domestically, Canadian companies are finding new ways to feed the world. This #WorldFoodDay, we celebrate the companies working to ensure families here and around the globe have access to a wide selection of high-quality, nutritious food options. From fava snacks, to lupin flour, to breads, pastas and meats fortified with pulses and oat protein, Canada’s innovative companies are supplying families around the world with the nourishment they need to thrive. #MakeItHere #CdnAg
