#BSR26 Day 2 highlights 💡 William Tillett at #BSR2026, in the Disease management session, showed that optimising PsA therapy requires a treat-to-target approach, early escalation based on prognosis, and tailoring treatment to disease domains—with weight loss as an important adjunct to improve outcomes. #Rheumatology #PsA #TreatToTarget #IMIDForum @rheumatologyuk

🚨 PIP Cuts: The Government Must Change Course 🚨 New data has revealed that 87% of PIP claimants in Torbay could lose at least some of their benefit due to the Government’s planned cuts. This is utterly unacceptable, and I am fighting to ensure the Government reverses these harmful changes. Since becoming MP, I have relentlessly challenged ministers on their plans for Personal Independence Payments (PIP). Through a Written Parliamentary Question, I uncovered that in 55 constituencies across England and Wales, 90% of those on the standard rate for daily living activities could lose crucial support under the proposed system. In Torbay alone, 87% of claimants could miss out. The Government plans to enforce new criteria from November 2026, requiring claimants to score a minimum of four points in one daily living activity to qualify for help with essential tasks like washing and cooking. Those scoring less face losing their entire daily living benefit. I will not stand by while vulnerable people in our community are left behind. These changes will push people further into hardship, stripping away the support they rely on to stay safe, stay clean, and stay independent. I am calling on the Government to urgently rethink this policy before it’s too late.

People with arthritis and other musculoskeletal conditions are predicted to be worst hit by these reforms. People with arthritis are the largest group in receipt of PIP. Many use it to help them get to work so this doesn't add up.
We are extremely concerned by @resfoundation analysis showing @DWPgovuk cuts to disability benefits will hit people with arthritis the hardest, with almost 80% of #PIP claims being slashed.

Up to a third of people living with #psoriasis will go on to develop #PsoriaticArthritis. The HPOS study aims to help us understand why this happens, allowing us to better predict who is at risk and work towards improving prevention measures. Researchers are looking to hear from people who live with psoriasis but have not been diagnosed with PsA. The wonderful Zoe @itchingtotell explains how you can get involved. Hi Rheum friends - sorry I can't bring you the #patientvoice from #BSR25 this year. There has been registration complications so I do not have remote access as in previous years. It's a real shame because our insights and voice matter too🖐️ #rheumatology #researchpartners

✂️ The government wants to cut £5billion a year from the benefits system by 2030. It’s time to keep the pressure on and oppose these shameful plans.

Seems like a good time to point out that the official fraud rate for PIP (the disability benefit) in 2024 was ZERO!! PIP has the lowest fraud rate of any benefit. So... why are Labour trying to push more disabled people off PIP???!!!
