A left-NIMBY told me renters keep being renovicted; I asked how he deals with population growth and he said he opposes all developments that aren't affordable so I said it sounds like he’s just renovating old rental homes for rich people and then his tenants union started crying.

Austin has long req’d 25’ of clear fire access, the standard fire code requires 20’. Wider streets encourage dangerous speeds
We need to build fire trucks around the city we want, not build our city around fire trucks

Early voting is open! Go vote now for pro-housing, pro-transit candidates!
Plenty of candidates claim to want an affordable, walkable Austin, but our endorsement goes only to candidates who will actually fight to build the homes and transit needed to make it happen!

The poster features photos of five endorsed candidates against a purple background, labeled as Pro-Housing / Pro-Transit: Amber Goodwin for District 1, José Velásquez for District 3, Ryan Alter for District 5, Selena Xie for District 8, and Zo Qadri for District 9.

Proposition I is a Trojan horse that is campaigning on a (redundant) efficiency audit but is actually a new legal entitlement that allows extremists to hijack the City’s budget. Chaotic and bad for public safety. Analysis:

oh my god James Talarico just highlighted his single stair reform bill at his town hall
that’s my pro-housing GOAT and the next senator from Texas

We want to se affordable mixed use development, but we don’t like projects like Dog’s Head.
That’s why we’re endorsing against the council member who supports affordable mixed use development and voted against Dog’s Head.
@AustinChronicle has done it again!

the double standard is glaring. in east austin, we encourage dev for housing, transit, sustainability and tax base. west austin, we cap heights & limit dev to protect surrounding exclusionary zoning
same city, different priorities

Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the NFL. Passing for 200+ and running for 120+ in an NFL game is flat out insane.

A conspiracy theorist dies and goes to heaven.
When he arrives, God says, “Welcome. Ask me anything you want.” The man says, “I need to know: was Talarico in an Ohio mental hospital?” God says, “No.”
The man pauses and then says, “Wow. This goes even higher than I thought.”
Just a reminder that Prop I is a trojan horse that has nothing to do with economic responsibility and everything to do with opening a backdoor to litigation for the most sue-happy goons in town. @SaveAustinNow
The biggest loser from Prop I will likely be public safety. Prop I is a Trojan horse that's not really about a new PDF report. It's about suing the City to badger departments & cancel tax rate elections. Public safety has the most to lose in that deal:

The world is changing fast.
Apartment rents in Austin are rising again (barely) for the first time since early 2023.
Austin was the poster child for the apartment supply boom, pushing down rents for 41 straight months. But construction has rapidly tapered off, vacancies are gradually leasing up, and rents are starting to tick back upward.
Not a boom (yet?), but an inflection point.

40 is too young. I think the average first time home buyer should be like 80. You should only be able to buy a home when you qualify for hospice. A home is something you should buy to die in, sort of like a pyramid

If you’ve been thinking about hosting a block party with your neighbors, now is a great time to start planning. 🥳
In 2021, I led the effort to make Austin’s block party process easier and more accessible for residents across the city.

We’ve been channeling a bit of retro futurism with these #singlestair prototypes.
There was a lot of great urbanism at the start of the 1900s (before cars took over) and a lot of that same approach can work well with modern passive house design & low embodied carbon materials.
