Broad cultural shifts don't hit all relationships the same way. Using text analysis of U.S. and Chinese historical corpora, we show how norms around care, hierarchy, mating, and transaction evolve differently across relational contexts. @avamadesousa doi.org/10.21203/rs.3.rs-113…

🧠 I’m recruiting a full-time Research Assistant to help build the AIMM Lab at UT Dallas’s Center for Vital Longevity! Preferred start: Spring 2027.
We study emotion regulation using behavioral experiments and fMRI. I’m looking for someone organized, reliable, and collaborative, with experience designing, programming, and conducting experiments. The role also includes participant coordination, IRB work, and helping manage the lab.
This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on research experience before pursuing a PhD in psychology or neuroscience.
Also recruiting 1–2 PhD students for Fall 2027.

Are we only morally obligated to others?
Our new work shows that people also see moral obligation to the self—bridging the usual divide between self-interest and moral goodness.
