Yep, just media bias once again
Odd headline given Labour is still below National.

What a fizzer. Labour’s big housing announcement today amounted to copying @NZNationalParty’s 5% deposit policy for first home loans and a more complicated version of a policy that already exists - letting KO tenants buy their homes.

Yep
Replying to @truereckons1
So you work and save to buy a home and your tax is used to buy a home for someone who doesn't work and pay tax ?

Sst is representative of some the most heinous crimes; survivors and victims in the country's history. The reason they are perceived as Nationals buddies is the Labour govt before Greens got in, didn't give two shits about the victims and their stories and I know that for fact.
Marama Davidson’s refusal to meet with the Sensible Sentencing Trust and victims of crime has just significantly strengthened the SST’s campaign. They can have a field day with this.

There should be accountability
Labour has jumped on an RNZ story to attack the timeline for opening Waitākere Hospital’s new ICU. Embarrassingly for Labour, it’s their own timeline. In 2021, the then-Labour Government announced $65 million for a new ward and ICU at Waitākere Hospital. The business case they approved always intended for services in the new building to be introduced in stages, with implementation of the six-bed ICU set for 2026 through to 2033. Implementation starts with recruitment. The business case states that staffing an ICU will take time, and expects the unit to build up gradually over the coming years. Documents reveal that Labour knew this when they signed it off. With the building complete, Health New Zealand has begun implementing the ICU within the timeframe Labour’s business case set out, recruiting a clinical lead and finalising the model of care. rnz.co.nz/news/health/217398…

Bishop's effectiveness is scarce in our modern Parliament. He can achieve despite public service obstruction. All parties now select numpties on "shop window for diversity" policies. They can all mouth platitudes and pretend to be nice. Few can actually lead and manage. Parliament desperately needs its proven leaders. I could not state the case for saving Chris Bishop better than Ani aniobrien.substack.com/p/the…

𝗛𝗶𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻𝘀’ 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺𝘀 “Chris Hipkins’ opposition to charter schools is based on claims that have been proven false. ACT is challenging him to accept the facts, change his position, and let children learn in the way that works best for them,” says ACT Leader David Seymour. “Hipkins has gone on Newstalk ZB this morning and repeated the same false claims that charter schools cost more than state schools, despite official figures showing otherwise. “At the NZ Herald Leaders’ Debate, Ryan Bridge asked Hipkins whether he’d ever lied. Hipkins said not deliberately, but acknowledged making incorrect statements based on outdated information and claimed he had always corrected them. “Last week we asked him to prove that. The figures are publicly available on the Charter School Agency's website, but Hipkins has chosen to keep spreading false claims. “The figures show charter schools receive broadly the same funding as state schools, and slightly less for staffing and operations. Compared like for like the number are: Primary schools: $8,762 per student at state schools, compared with $8,278 at charter schools. Secondary schools: $11,040 per student at state schools, compared with $10,741 at charter schools. “Even the establishment funding figures show charter schools receive less. A new primary charter school with 100 students receives $401,675 in staffing and operating funding, compared with $638,249 for an equivalent state school. “If Hipkins can't accept these facts, it suggests the real reason he opposes charter schools is that he and the unions are afraid they're becoming too successful. “Since the first charter schools opened last year, enrolments have grown from 215 to more than 2,100. Five of the original seven schools exceeded their attendance targets in their first year, and five exceeded their achievement targets. “Families are choosing these schools because they offer something different. For many students, the traditional system simply wasn't working. Now they're attending school, learning, and getting opportunities they didn't have before. “Charter schools are contracted to deliver results. If they fail to meet their attendance and achievement targets, they risk losing their funding. That's a level of accountability not seen elsewhere in the state school system. “Chris Hipkins should be celebrating schools that are helping students succeed, not threatening to abolish the model to keep his union mates happy. “He now has the opportunity to put the interests of students ahead of the unions by accepting the facts and letting families choose the education that works best for their children.”

"Hipkins says the decision to keep funding gangs never reached Cabinet. The records tell a different story. In July 2023, his Cabinet rejected a proposal from then Justice Minister Kiri Allan to stop awarding government contracts to gangs and people associated with them. Chris Hipkins was Prime Minister. Now he needs to explain why his Government didn’t act. Taxpayers’ money should never be used to prop up criminal gangs. Kiwis deserve straight answers, not excuses." NZ Taxpayers Union

Wong is so wrong
Opportunity Party wants a future generations commissioner. Wong cites Wales as an example of the success of such a commission. It stopped a motorway so that people have to spend more time in traffic and less time with their family. That's what Wong wants for us.
