Yhe phrase "check that guy's hard drive" has just lost all meaning in Britain.
New laws to tackle harmful pornography are now in force. What happens online can have real-life consequences. These changes aim to prevent the normalisation of sexual violence and abuse, as part of our wider work to tackle violence against women and girls.

100% agree with this pilot. People blaming the co-pilot because she is 1- A female, 2- 20 years old. They FAIL to see she was qualified and licensed. If she wasn't, she wouldn't have been there. SHE DID HER JOB. The haters aren't even talking about the MALE PILOT who actually WAS flying the plane. This incident has truly shown the ugly side of Twitter.
Aviation expert & retired Navy fighter pilot Matthew “Whiz” Buckley (last night on CBC with Ian Hanomansing) on the Lear 60 crash near Mar-a-Lago and the online pile-on against the 20-year-old co-pilot: “She did her job. It didn’t matter how old that young lady was… the captain ultimately signed for that aircraft and decided to press into that thunderstorm. She did her job.” “I can’t stand what’s going on online with people trying to throw shade at this young lady… She did her best.” “She gave a running commentary—from the icing [and] turbulence to the overspeed situation. She actually helped this investigation and potentially [helped] save lives down the road. So she went out as a true professional.” She was the pilot not flying (on the radio); the captain was fighting the airplane. She stayed professional to the end @WhizBuckleyGrp #Learjet60

If you can't read this without Google, you don't get to comment about the qualifications of that Learjet's copilot. METAR CYEG 030200Z 16009KT 20SM BKN250 04/M02 A3002 RMK CI5 SLP207 TAF CYEG 022340Z 0300/0324 14008KT P6SM SCT250 BECMG 0307/0309 VRB03KT RMK NXT FCST BY 030300Z

I work in aviation so this morning I got to sit around with a bunch of pilots and discuss this horrible situation and I found it so interesting that none of the pilots thought the gender or race of the pilots were a factor at all but a bunch of fucking idiots on here do.
Co-pilot. Not in charge of the cockpit. Thousands of people dragging her. You guys are vultures.

Today has really fucked me off. People think all pilots look like me, old, grey, half bald with a beer in hand. They forget that we all have to start somewhere. As a 20 year old copilot getting a job on a Lear (after passing the ATP, and the aircraft type rating), getting shit thrown at you every day by experienced Captains (who only want you to learn) until the point at which you get selected for Captaincy. You’ve worked so hard, you’ve dedicate your entire life to that moment and what it means beyond. To have that cut short is absolutely devastating, it’s a brutal, one chance only world, get it wrong once and there are no second chances. So before you post about a 20 year old female pilot being in such a position ask yourself what you’d done by 20? Ask yourself how your friends and family would feel tonight. Above all, leave it to the investigators to work it out.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls. That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching. I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee. Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

When you start your tweet with, “I’m not a pilot. I’m not an aviation expert.,” you should select “Cancel” rather than “Post” when you’re finished writing it.
I’m not a pilot. I’m not an aviation expert. But something doesn’t feel right. Way too many coincidences in my opinion.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The post implies suspicious "coincidences" around the Nov 1 Learjet 60 crash, but crew reports described manageable icing, moderate turbulence and precipitation before rapid descent; NTSB investigation ongoing with no supporting evidence for foul play or anomalies. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Palm… asn.flightsafety.org/wikibase/584122 ainonline.com/aviation-news/…

The police are correct here that they wouldn't have had RPG for an arrest. Had they arrested the guy without it, they'd have potentially tainted the entire case. The police can't arrest you on suspicion, they need reasonable and probable grounds.
We want to address some confusion surrounding the investigation into the home invasion in the Bridle Path neighbourhood. Investigators immediately recognized the potential connection between the home invasion and the individual who showed up at hospital with a gunshot wound. But recognizing a potential suspect and having enough evidence to arrest them are two different things. Suspicion alone isn’t enough. Police need reasonable grounds, supported by evidence, to make an arrest. We will continue to gather evidence and will go where the evidence takes us. We are grateful for the professionalism, tenacity and commitment of our investigators who continue this work. Let’s keep the focus where it belongs: finding the outstanding suspects and holding those responsible for this violent home invasion accountable.

That is a fair question, Phil. First, a gunshot victim is not required to answer police questions and can refuse to cooperate. The information at the time was that the man who went to the hospital may have been shot in the chest or shoulder. A gunshot wound alone, refusing to speak, or police simply not believing him or thinking he was lying, would not, by itself, justify an arrest. To detain someone, police need reasonable grounds to suspect a connection to a specific offence; to arrest them, they need reasonable grounds to believe they committed it. If there was no reliable suspect description he matched, or other evidence connecting him to the home invasion, police may have had to obtain his information and continue investigating. It’s not unusual for someone who may be involved in a crime to seek medical treatment and decline to speak with police. A person’s lie or refusal to answer, by itself, doesn’t establish grounds to arrest them. Investigators have to let the evidence develop and tell the story.
Replying to @SteveRyanCP24
Steve did this ever happen for you? Police spoke with Richards in hospital after he walked in with a gunshot wound. He was discharged before they could connect him with the B&E. Did they ask him if he was involved, he said "nope," and they believed him?

262 days. It’s been 262 days since you were airlifted to BC Children’s Hospital. 262 days since we were told, “We did everything we could, but we don’t think she’s going to make it through the night.” Since then, I’ve watched you fight for every single one of those days. 251 days ago, you opened your eye, moved it, and shifted your leg only to be rushed back for emergency surgery that morning when hydrocephalus set in. 238 days ago, you were extubated and breathed on your own for the first time. 230 days ago, you felt the sun on your face again. 224 days ago, the cranioplasty we had planned turned into yet another emergency when an infection was discovered. 214 days ago, your EVD was finally removed. 213 days ago, you sat on the edge of the bed with a little help, and I wrapped my arms around you for the first time since the morning I left for work before any of this began. 191 days ago, the NG tube came out, and I saw your beautiful face completely clear of tubes and tape. 179 days ago, your prosthetic skull was placed. Your fifth surgery, and the one that finally stuck. After that, things slowly began to feel possible again. 145 days ago, you smiled for the first time (intentionally) while we played thumb war. 140 days ago, I wheeled you off hospital grounds for the very first time. 61 days ago, I heard your voice again. 40 days ago, we celebrated your 13th birthday at the Foo Fighters. And today, today you’re being released. There was never a day I stopped believing we would get here. The road ahead is still long, but this is a milestone no one thought we would reach. Maya, you are the bravest person I know. You are an inspiration to so many people. Giving up was never an option for me, and it clearly never was for you either. You refused to accept the words we heard 262 days ago when you came out of the OR. Look at you, my girl. You blew every expectation out of the water. Thank you to the incredible nurses, doctors, and therapists who walked every step of this with us. Thank you to everyone who supported Maya and our family we could not have done this without each and every one of you. Now it’s time to leave these hospital walls behind and keep moving forward, Maya Bear. I love you forever and always. —Dad ❤️
