Pure Earth & its partners' constant advocacy efforts have effectively engaged the govt. to take strong action against #LeadPollution in 🇧🇩. This commitment was reinforced during the first meeting of the Multisectoral Steering Committee on Lead Poisoning on Oct 2 at the conference room of MoEFCC; chaired by Dr. Farhina Ahmed, Secretary of the MoEFCC.
Key decisions:
👉Seek reports from line ministries to address lead contamination.
👉Formulate a rule under the Hazardous Act.
👉Assess existing stakeholder activities to inform a comprehensive policy.
👉Establish a working committee for a time-bound action plan.
Rep. from Pure Earth, UNICEF, WHO, World Bank, USAID, ADB, icddr,b, ESDO and more attended the meeting.
