Tomorrow at #PCCS26:
A curated faculty of national leaders advancing #precisioncardiology — from RNA biology to clinical decision-making. Excited to bring this group together in La Jolla and virtually. #cardiotwitter

Despite guideline recommendations, #genetictesting remains profoundly underutilized in #cardiomyopathy, reaching only ~1% of patients in this national #Epic Cosmos analysis of 1.7 million individuals. The gaps we identified suggest that it is an #implementation problem.

We looked at #LVAD outcomes through a #genetics lens. In our study, patients with pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants had a higher risk of early #RVfailure, independent of ischemic or nonischemic etiology. #GeneticTesting may inform perioperative risk. Led by @_ESilver !

Indications for #cardiogenetic testing are increasing, but are #cardiologists ready? In our @ACCinTouch survey, most use testing, but lack confidence in ordering/interpreting. Barriers include cost, counselor access and training gaps. @CardioGenomicTA

The cuts by the federal government to cancer research and cancer prevention have been astronomical. This cannot be overstated. Medicine and science are being decimated and doctors are being asked to do more with infinitely less resources. It’s unsustainable and will lead to so many unnecessary deaths. #CancerTreatment #cancerresearch #NIH #Healthcare #USPSTF #CancerScreening

There is already a major projected physician shortage in the US.
Capping loans at 200K will only work if you lower medical school costs. Otherwise we will admit the only the wealthy.
I graduated med school in 2012 with 300k in loans.
I was very fortunate to attend my in-state public medical school in Iowa. I took out the max loans available 22 years ago ($38,500/yr) and lived on Ramen. Under the new legislation, the $50K/yr cap wouldn’t cover estimated expenses of $58,541. 1/4 thehill.com/homenews/educati…
