My goal for my MHC4OC practice is to finish getting the credentials to be a EMDR consultant/trainer and a NYS CE provider so I can use the money I make training therapists to fund free somatic therapy for low income Black people That seems to be the most sustainable path

Two points: first, there is no 'after Covid'. There is 'after the end of societal non-pharmaceutical interventions'. Second, Covid can cause both prolonged fatigue and prolonged cognitive dysfunction. Because Covid is so common, population level effects are inevitable.
After COVID, people's social skills have drastically declined. Many have less patience for each other, and simple interactions can feel awkward. Everyone seems more comfortable staying home and avoiding people.

Stressing someone into overwhelm is an obvious manipulation tactic used by abusers systemically and interpersonally to control our emotions and actions
Replying to @QueeringPsych
This is what makes understanding your autonomic nervous system and your body from a somatic POV is so important Making sure that the choices we make are not significantly affected by fear, exhaustion, overwhelm etc to the point that we start acting against our best interests

And part of the reason I share my free somatic series is so people can learn how to turn their prefrontal cortex back on by regulating their own nervous system and co-regulating with each other

This is going to be a really, really, really long (Free like $0.00) written and video series where I’ll be explaining somatic psych theory and how to apply it so you can build a deeper relationship with your body, your intuition, and ultimately your community

When people are stressed and/or overwhelmed, their prefrontal cortex turns off That’s the part of the brain in charge of critical thinking, creativity, emotions, motivation, etc That’s why people aren’t noticing the signs of danger that you are aware of & warning them about
Replying to @QueeringPsych
The goal is also to destroy community building If we are too on edge to actively listen to each other. If we are too shutdown to have energy to maintain relationships with ourselves/others. If we can’t manage conflict w/o imploding. If we enable abuse because it feels familiar

AND it helps you more & more easily spot the people who are playing in your face and mean you actual factual harm so you don’t both sides your way into danger It’s hard to even gaslight yourself when you, your body, & community have an understanding & the red flags are flagging

Having a long history of trauma does complicate things, but it’s still very possible to get to that level of relationship with your nervous system and body The more understanding & emphatic you are to your own survival/trauma responses, the easier it is to have grace for others

…you can learn to notice the signs of shutdown earlier until you get to a point where you can prevent it much of the time That will help you think clearer so it’s harder for politicians for example to play you And it helps you to community build & advocate for yourself

People pleasing as a trauma response aka fawning, freezing, dissociating, depression, emotional disconnection from others or your body etc is the goal So they can greedily do whatever they want Using somatic work to learn yourself & have a deeper relationship with your body,

Bringing this back (using somatic work to catch the signs of overwhelm/shutdown earlier) Systemic & interpersonal abusers love pressing all your buttons like an elevator to force you into a dorsal vagal shutdown, esp a chronic years long shutdown They want you to check out
Replying to @QueeringPsych
It’s important to know what shut down feels like somatically/physically in your body and what triggers that specifically Eventually you can learn to catch it in real time & regulate yourself or with your community so you don’t miss out on important info or get manipulated

This is why my somatic work with clients always involves learning one’s sensory needs & how the body responds to our environment To make accommodations or major changes, advocate for yourself, or at least be aware of the systemic factors at play so you can’t be gaslit about it

Noise pollution triggers our autonomic nervous systems And continues to overwhelm your body even after you try to go on autopilot. Even if you think you got used to it This affects your heart, critical thinking, appetite/digestion, causes/makes worse migraines & body pain, etc
noise pollution causing actual real physical health problems in humans is one of those things that sounds fake but isn’t

Learning how to attend to your nervous system & recover from trauma responses is an essential skill Fascism loves to take advantage of our fear and trauma responses regardless of political party Part of fighting fascism is fighting the disconnection from yourself & communities

Mind you, i saw a tweet yesterday of Iran saying they’re strongly considering cut the internet cables in the sea and then i see this today
FORTRESS: The Pentagon is preparing every major U.S. military base to survive 90 days without outside support — no civilian power grid, no global supply chains, no outside fuel or water. The initiative, revealed in documents reviewed by Fox News Digital, envisions portable nuclear reactors, massive battery storage, and microgrids that can disconnect installations from civilian electricity entirely. Strategic reserves of munitions, fuel, critical minerals, and medical supplies would be stockpiled based on wartime consumption rates. Civilian factories are being pre-identified to shift to defense production during a crisis. Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell put it bluntly: "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures." Full story here foxnews.com/politics/inside-…
