@JagexRyan Create an island "hub" for new people with vibes similar to Iron Enclave. 1). New players & returners want to feel less alone in the world. Seeing fellow low levels out there is empowering. 2). The island that can only be accessed by people below a total level of X. No visual overstimulation from the overworld or veterans flexing their expensive gear here! 3). Island can be teleported to for free, no CD. Has a bank and grassy plaza to sit around. The bank and social component is the draw. 5). Once a total level of 300 is reached, the bank stops being accessible. Once a total of 500 is reached you island is no longer accessible. You've graduated the hub! Keep playing with you friends or make new ones at Varrock GE or War's. 6). Exclusive chat badge. Upon account creation you can label yourself as new/returning and be granted a "green sprout" chat badge. Disappears after 500 total level or if you opt-out. Hopefully people will be kind to you. FFXIV has this too, its very useful. 7). MAYBE add level 1 skilling nodes across the island (and goblins?) that give reduced exp and gather rates compared to its overworld counterparts. Goal is to let people spend some time to solve problems with skills on their free will (take damage -> fish fish -> cut log -> light fire -> eat -> make weapon & armor -> feel stronger, so on). Unlike the hand-holding nature of Burthorpe that forces people to follow instructions relentlessly, these particular island features is a pseudo tutorial. Also reduced exp rates = people have more time to pace themselves and appreciate the game loop - overworld is still better than any exp or loot the island offers, so staying is a choice. Have a few tutor NPCs present in case people want to learn more about RS or a particular skill. Optional interaction, nothing forced. 8). If the island does well then maybe you can remove Burthorpe tutorial and open that place up for an overhaul. I want the 2000s era Burthorpe + Taverley back. No "tutorial" noise. Final note: One of the more valid concerns pro-Reignited players raised was from prospective players who wish to be surrounded by fellow new players to some capacity (Read: Fellow low level accounts with low level gear. New players won't be able to distinguish an alt from a noob even though that shouldn't be a concern). I kinda understand them. A few worlds with the "New Player Friendly" designation and this proposed hub would probably be sufficient to fill that desire. Gives them a proper chance to socialize with fellow low levels and feel comfortable is probably a big deal. Worth considering!
