I really never comment anything on posts. I’m not an argumentative person and I don’t think anything good comes out of engaging with strangers online. This video however of a man in Las Vegas speaking Spanish to Aaron Ford though actually struck a nerve. Now— when you actually pay attention to what he’s saying, he’s not saying anything negative about the U.S., he actually says he loves America, he has a different opinion of things than I have and that’s OK. MY ISSUE WITH IT… He does it entirely in Spanish. I don’t think you win allies and bring people into the conversation about things when the majority of the country can’t understand you. I saw the comments, typical anti-Trump leftists. I commented “speak English” as a snide remark, I admit that, but I’m also dead serious. I wouldn’t go to another country expecting them to accommodate me. I know Latinos in the US who outright refused to learn or speak English, then they complain they’re treated differently. You don’t have a country when you don’t have a shared language, culture, or borders. Latinos aren’t some monolith either. @KaiSchwemmer has a debate with a college professor coming out discussing this very point. A hilarious thing about Kai— he speaks fluent Spanish, I don’t. English was both my parent’s second language, they knew assimilation was important so my brother (who does speak Spanish because he learned it) and I only grew up speaking English. This is our country, this is our home, English is our language. I’ll never understand how that is controversial.

HISTORY LESSON ON YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY CARD: Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this. It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are FACTS. Up until the 1980's, Social Security cards expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the "NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION" message was removed. Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. His promises are in black, with updates in brackets. 1.) That participation in the Program would be completely voluntary [No longer voluntary], 2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program [Now 7.65% on the first $90,000, and 15% on the first $90,000 if you’re self-employed], 3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year [No longer tax deductible], 4.) That the money the participants put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program [Under Johnson the money was moved to the General Fund and spent], and 5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income [Under Clinton & Gore up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed]. Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month — and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the following: Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it? A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate. Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding? A: The Democratic Party. Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities? A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US AND MY FAVORITE: Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants? A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it! Now, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away! And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it! If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, though. Some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn’t so — but it’s worth a try.

Chief Special Warfare Operator William Chad “Bill” Mulder, a highly decorated US Navy SEAL, died on June 9, 2017, in Boerne, Texas, 127 days after retiring from the Navy in January 2017. He was a combat veteran of multiple overseas deployments and received numerous awards, including three Bronze Stars with Valor, a Joint Service Commendation Medal with Valor, and others. According to accounts from his widow Sydney and the SEAL community, Mulder struggled with the cumulative effects of combat, including PTSD, traumatic brain injury, insomnia, anxiety, and related issues. On the day of his death, he was on a FaceTime call with his family when he showed a firearm and ended 🕊️ his life; police later found him in his vehicle in a parking lot. The Navy SEAL Foundation and other sources have publicly described his death as resulting from service-connected wounds. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. His story prompted congressional action, including the Navy SEAL Chief Petty Officer William “Bill” Mulder (Ret.) Transition Improvement Act, aimed at improving support for veterans during the transition out of the military. #PTSDAwarness #PTSDVeterans #NAVYSEAL #USNAVY #RIP

"Fairy tales do not give the child his first idea of bogey. What fairy tales give the child is his first clear idea of the possible defeat of bogey. The baby has known the dragon intimately ever since he had an imagination. What the fairy tale provides for him is a St. George to kill the dragon." G.K. Chesterton
There is a really great plot point in Dracula where Van Helsing and Harker decide not to tell Mina about any of the vampire hunting they’re engaging in so as to protect Mina’s mind from being haunted by evil stuff. She agrees to it, understanding the logic. But Dracula takes advantage of exactly this ignorance on the part of Mina, and when the men are out hunting him, the demon takes his chance to attack Mina who is all the more vulnerable for not being on her guard and knowing how to defend herself.

If someone asks you how much a single family's life is worth to the United States Navy, tell them the exact price: ten million dollars of steel. On April 29, 1975, as Saigon fell, a tiny two-seat wooden-and-fabric Cessna plane with almost no fuel left circled desperately above the American aircraft carrier USS Midway. Inside that tiny cockpit, a father named Major Buang-Ly had crammed his wife and five small children, including a baby. He scribbled a note on a map, wrapped it around his pistol so it would not blow into the ocean, and dropped it onto the carrier deck. A young American sailor picked up the crumpled paper and ran it up to Captain Lawrence Chambers. The note read: "Can you move these helicopter to the other side, I can land on your runway, I can fly 1 hour more. Please rescue me. Major Buang, Wife and 5 child." The flight deck of the USS Midway was completely jammed from bow to stern with military helicopters. A Cessna has no tailhook to catch carrier wires, and its pilot had never landed on a ship in his life. By every military regulation, Captain Chambers had been in command for only five weeks. Throwing millions of dollars of U.S. government aircraft into the sea without permission from Washington could end his career in a court-martial. Chambers looked up at the tiny plane circling in the wind with five children inside. He did not call an accountant in Washington. "Clear the deck," the captain ordered. Hundreds of young American sailors in yellow and green jerseys ran to the edge of the ship, put their shoulders against massive Huey helicopters, and shoved ten million dollars worth of machinery straight off the cliff into the South China Sea. Captain Chambers turned the giant carrier into the wind at twenty-five knots. The tiny Cessna came down, bounced once on the steel runway, and rolled to a safe stop with feet to spare. When the cockpit door opened and five small children stepped out onto the deck, three thousand American sailors roared so loud it drowned out the engines, and immediately passed around a hat to collect cash for the family's new life in America. When the math says a child's life is too expensive, an American throws the math into the ocean.

“My daughter is autistic and has experienced trauma from abuse, but she wants to learn how to shoot. Can you help her?” Yes, mama. You bet I can. This extraordinary young lady went from being terrified, with her eyes on the ground, to giggling, holding her head high, and wanting to shoot all afternoon! Teaching women (and young ladies) how to shoot is about so much more than learning to safely pull a trigger. It’s about building confidence, overcoming fear, and helping them discover the courage and strength they never knew they had. Watching that transformation is something I will never get tired of. And THIS is why I’m so passionate about my mission to arm the women. (Yes, permission was given to share her photo).
