“Keep strong, if possible. In any case, keep cool. Have unlimited patience. Never corner an opponent, and always assist him to save his face...Avoid self-righteousness like the devil - nothing is so self-blinding.” - Basil Henry Liddell Hart

The primary imperfection in the LoTR trilogy is the Arwen and Aragorn story - the departure from the tale of Beren and Lúthien retold in a later age.
Boromirs death is one of the saddest scenes in film to watch - and at least as bad to read
Yet it is a glorious one of full redemption and everything happened exactly as intended
There is a lesson there
This but LoTR themed in my future please. With a large gun room, large historical weaponry room, and large wine cellar off of it.
Gondorian or High Elven styling is the real question
I am not in the house of Elrond. But it is indeed ten o'clock in the morning, on October the twenty fourth, if you want to know.

The soldiers chanting "DEATH!" is really significant here. Eru originally gave death to humans as a gift, so they could enjoy their time on Arda. However, Morgoth twisted this, making man fear death, so they coveted the immortality of the elves. Here, they scream it out in defiance of Morgoth and his servants, saying they do not fear it, and that now Morgoth, Sauron, and the darkness they wield have no power over them.
The Lord of the Rings is the greatest epic ever written. And the extended editions are as close to cinematic perfection, for me, as I have seen, or likely ever will see.

Scientists found a way to flush Alzheimer’s plaque out of the brain in minutes.
Without any surgery and drugs.
Your brain has a waste-clearance network called the glymphatic system. It flushes out toxic proteins and dead cells.
But it only really activates during deep, slow-wave sleep.
If you don't sleep, the trash piles up. Over time, that buildup leads to cognitive decline and Alzheimer's.
Until today.
Researchers just published a paper proving they can manually trigger this cleaning cycle.
Without you ever going to sleep.
They used 40.68 MHz ultrashort waves (USW) beamed non-invasively into the brain.
Within 10 minutes, the brain's fluid flow rapidly accelerated.
The waves artificially synchronized the neurons into a Delta state, the exact frequency of deep sleep. This forced the brain's water channels to open and start flushing out the system.
They tested it on mice with traumatic brain injuries and Alzheimer's pathology.
The brain swelling dropped. The toxic proteins were cleared out. Cognitive deficits actually improved.
No surgery. No massive chemical interventions. Just a frequency.
Ohioans are the GOATs, example 1863
I've lived in the same apartment building in Tokyo for 11 years.
I know zero names.
That's normal here. We nod in the elevator. We do not speak.
Then Mike moved in on the third floor.
Ohio. Six-foot-four. Laughs like a truck starting up.
Day 1: He knocked on every door with a plate of cookies.
(In Japan, when you move in, you give your neighbors a small towel. Then you leave. Mike gave cookies. Then he stayed and talked.)
Week 1: He knew everyone's name. Including the dog's.
Then there was Mrs. Sato on the first floor.
She's 84. Her husband passed away ten years ago. She lives alone.
In 11 years, I had never heard her voice.
Every Tuesday, Mike carried her groceries up the steps. She didn't speak English. He didn't speak Japanese.
They talked anyway. Mostly about the photo of her husband by the door.
Then one morning, her curtains stayed closed.
Mike noticed.
Nobody else did. I didn't.
He knocked. No answer. He called the building manager.
She had fallen the night before. She'd been on the floor all night.
She's okay now.
But the building isn't the same.
People say good morning. The elevator has conversations.
Last month, we had our first rooftop potluck. Nobody knew what a potluck was. Mike explained it twice.
Mrs. Sato brought 40 rice balls.
And then she laughed at something Mike said.
That was the first time I ever heard her voice.
Mike moved back to Ohio this week.
On his last morning, the whole building came down to the lobby. Kids. Grandparents. The dog.
Mrs. Sato handed him a box.
Inside: one thousand paper cranes.
In Japan, you fold a thousand cranes for someone you want to protect. Her hands shake. She had been folding them since the day he found her.
Then she said the English sentence she had practiced every day for a week.
"Please... come back."
Mike was crying too hard to answer in English.
So he answered in the Japanese he had been secretly practicing.
"Kanarazu kaette kimasu."
In Japanese, that doesn't mean "I'll visit."
It's what you say when you're coming home.
Still thinking about the absolute disgrace of the Hobbit trilogy and wondering how much worse it will get with Colbert's new foray.
Disgraceful. There is only one trilogy and nothing else should be made again for decades, at minimum.
