Tonight, Glenn Youngkin will be speaking at the RNC Convention, offering an extreme vision for our nation's future.
The vision of Youngkin, Trump, and Vance has no place here in Virginia.
Our Commonwealth went blue in 2020. We're going to do it again in 2024.

In this horrible moment, encouraged to hear President Trump’s team indicate that the former president is doing well.
An entire nation must speak with one voice today to completely and unequivocally reject all political violence.
This @nytimes piece on Independence Days around the world could be a great Article of the Week for those teaching summer school or on a year-round schedule, or for parents looking for something interesting to read with your kids this summer. nytimes.com/2024/07/05/brief…

Say what you will about decodables taking the joy from reading, BUT...
When you watch a child, who has a million obstacles in his life, who said loudly "I can't read" when I met him, and who increased his scores by 110% in 3 months of explicit instruction and intentional practice....
I go the route of finding joy in accomplishments and a little boy finally seeing how smart he is for the first time.

Did you know 1/3 of US 4th graders don’t READ at what the Department of Education considers the BASIC level?
In 8th grade and high school, it’s about 1/4.
And THAT has been consistent since 1992.

There’s a lot of research that indicates homework is not an effective tool for retention. Some schools are moving away from it entirely. Plus, many kids don’t have the means/place/support to complete homework at home. It’s just unnecessary.

Most teachers already know this research, but just in case.
The right practice makes perfect !
