The Government need to make a significant change in Business rates and more jncentives to landlords to make sure high st premises are occupied for a variety of uses rather than left empty for extended periods.

As featured in @FT, @vidhyaalakeson proposed that £2bn returned business rate relief be turned into a fund to help community businesses revive UK #highstreets by helping communities to buy buildings and boost local economies. This fund would halt further decline of town centres.

The discretionary lockdown business grant scheme on the Island will close to applications from Tuesday 15 December. Eligible Island businesses can still apply until then via iow.gov.uk/covid19_businessa… . The scheme has helped 340 Island businesses so far. iow.gov.uk/news/Applications…
